Re: H22 thrust washer won't fit
This shouldn't be... can you post pics of how you have installed the thrust shims and the crankshaft ??? Speaking of the crankshaft... is it a genuine Honda stock H22A crank or something else ???

Re: H22 thrust washer won't fit
i was told it was balanced and knife edged ill try washers for the 55 main but the 50 main washers fit around the crank fine but were too thick for the main caps

Re: H22 thrust washer won't fit
This is why I asked the OP for pictures... the thrust shims are placed on either side of the #4 main journal of the block... the #4 main cap should be placed on top to keep them in place when the crankshaft spins.

Re: H22 thrust washer won't fit
Your explanation suggests you only used ONE shim... or TWO stacked on one side... I cannot tell. PICTURE PLEASE !!! The shims should be placed, smooth side facing the block (and beveled and slotted side facing the crankshaft counterweights), on either side of the #4 main journal of the BLOCK. You will see two smooth machined surfaces on the #8 and #9 counterweight of the crankshaft... each facing the #4 main bearing journal.
This picture places the parts in an invisible block sitting right side up as it would be installed in your car. Part #3 is the thrust shims (although they are in fact pictured backwards as installed).

Re: H22 thrust washer won't fit
as soon as you said mallet and main cap, I knew this was the case. glad you figured it out. hope you didn't destroy the main cap, block, or crank in the process
