Comp cam 89012 kit same springs as oem??
Hey guys and well girls!
I bought a set of springs afew years ago..
I used them for about 6k and my motor blew up.
I was young back then and paid people too do all this.
The shop was closed and I was out of luck.
No one measured the clearances and the rocker arm was hitting the retainers.
my new build is almost done and the head was off too get stage 2 cams recommended by my tuner.
I was at the machine shop talking and making sure this round went properly.
He checked the spring pressures with his fancy machine and they seem too be the exact same as oem?
Does this make sense - why would comp recommend a 600$ cdn kit when it's the same as original??
They also almost look identical - he is saying the specs seem too all be the same...
coming further down the line I am gonna be using stock retainers without the raised edge on them,
rocker arm fits 100% now but the exhaust side has very very tight clearances near the valve stem seal.
Would this be from too much head work? I bought it with oem parts now upgrading.

Same as OEM what? Type-R blue and yellow combo? I am quite sure they aren’t. Any measured spring rate data and reference values?
When checking double springs in pair, you have always must use correct seats and retainers because step between inner/ outer spring varies.
