ACL bearing HX marking identification
Not an ACL bearing guru, hoping someone in this forum knows.
Is there a specific marking on HX ACL bearings that identifies them as HX vs H assuming both are STD (standard). The bearings I have in front of me don't have H or HX anywhere on them but the part number and size is stamped along with ACL logo. |
Re: ACL bearing HX marking identification
All my hx and h bearings are stamped with hx or h. Sealing package/Cover too

Re: ACL bearing HX marking identification
Odd, these don't have H or HX stamp, got a picture of yours you can share?
|
Re: ACL bearing HX marking identification
I mic'd them with my mitutoyo and they are as thick as the greens in the thickest part so I'm sure they are H but odd there isnt a stamped H or HX like the others. Will call ACL Monday to confirm and post back in case anyone else has same question.

Re: ACL bearing HX marking identification
I've been on the acl website there is no pictures of the identification marks. Do you have pics yourself of bearings?
|
Re: ACL bearing HX marking identification
Here is a pic, they are used on GSR crank with forged rods even though they are D series bearings, not here to debate why so don't ask, looking for identification info only.....

Re: ACL bearing HX marking identification
Are you saying the bearings i posted are Aluglide and not H or HX? Are you saying this bc there is no marking?
|
Re: ACL bearing HX marking identification
the problem is whatever i say..u dont believe it...see oil pan thread. u need for everything pictures and measurements. i said the answer for u. ive build many engines and have a litlle bit experience of all bearings on the market.

Re: ACL bearing HX marking identification
Only problem is that max wall at crown is 0.0592 for the Aluglide and I only got 0.0590 which is the H spec per ACL matrix

Re: ACL bearing HX marking identification
This is why you can't simply trust, you need to trust but verify.
As I suspected based on what ACL told me via phone, these are the older H model bearings. They used to be called the "P" series bearings and bc of how old they are the P didn't always get stamped on the bearing. The tri metal P is similar to H race series now. So for anyone else with older bearings therr you have it if you have ACL without markings. I'm going to cut a bearing in half to confirm as a sanity check. Cheers |
Re: ACL bearing HX marking identification
Also noting F780 and F781 are the same material off the ACL catalog for this and the H model.

It's about getting the facts right. People have opinions and it is just that, no need to get offended for verification of information. To further prove these are not the Aluglide I took a grinder to the surface and sure enough there is a copper layer, the aluglide is aluminum through with silica. Another give away is there is a copper trace at the Tang across the length. Also they didn't make the HX back than so the replacement is the H model |
