That rx-7 was put together with crap parts.. It would barely start. The motor was dead but still had enough to whip that honda.. lol...

That beat down RX-7 your talking so big about beat a Civic that was just as bad! If I remember the story right the single cam engine in the hatch came out of the trash pile. They had to clean the rust off the stock sleeves since it sat out in the rain.

I'd like to see a real rematch with real cars!

So that was probably how the hatch was running significantly faster than the RX-7, or was it just the terrible launch in the first race, plus all the sand bagging by the driver that made the RX-7 look so much slower?

You could tell the RX-7 had a bad launch but it also looked like he lifted in the top end to make it look worse. We all know the RX-7's are all noise anyway's. If the coupler hadn't of blown off the Single cam would have kick it's butt, after all we all know Tony is good a 1/2 second advantage...

I think he was meaning the motor was a junk motor that had to go in cause the original ran into some problems before the pinks taping.

how is it a junk motor when it was rebuilt. i could get any motor and rebuild it looking and performing better than new.

maybe junk was the wrong word. but they had almost no money in to the car. a k swap would not have been worth the chance to loose it on pinks. d series **** is almost free. and the shell was haggard.

Cause it was basically a budget built junk D that came out of a corner someplace and was nothing special. Not even much of a rebuild, lots of stock parts from a salvaged car and pistons/ rods in a stock sleeve D. Not blowing any womens skirts up there. The head work was the only thing that was really above any beyond average.

460whp is what I believe was the power they told PINKS and posted here.

Displacement would not have helped much when they were down on power from a torn coupler bleeding all the boost.

Just to correct myself did get a little confused the HAsport car they did was the one the motor had an issue and they replaced it last minute. The Pink civic was also having issues but they didnt replace the motor when it was not making any power, which they fought until they finally changed turbos and found the lack of power.
