DDTECH, thanks for your advice on my nitrous setup. Looks like I leaned it out a little to much(bunch of problems with setup including fuel issues) but still managed a 11.70 on it. Rings on number one took a crap but car still runs fine. Gonna build a motor and go at it again.

Sorry to hear about your mishap.

Depending on Fuel, will depend on AFR. We spent the better part of 8 hours on the dyno last weekend testing FTW fuel, and finally dialing in everything.. and got everything ironed out, i had a very poor showing at ifo with a bunch of fueling issues that i had to figure out.

Spark plug reading is important, very important for a nitrous motor. If you're on pump gas shoot for 11.5-11.8 AFR on the gas, and i normally pull more out then normal, Dont run too rich, its actually alittle more dangerous then running lean. Thank of your spark plug like a fuse.

Will do. Im using e98. Target AFR was about 11.8-12.0 with 5 degrees pulled on a 125wet single fogger V-SPEC1(my tuner) kept adding fuel but didnt help. Final pass it leaned out pretty good. Turned out my 8yr old walbro 255 was done including the sock fell off, had a low voltage issue, turned out the alternator nut was loose, clutch was slipping off the launch. Fixed all the issues(went a with CC twin disk type C) put it back on the dyno and had a bad misfire issue. Tried trouble shooting with no success, did a compression test and number 1 is really low.

I went 10:70 in 2010. With a B. Since then I have not run my car. Will be back out this year. The car will go 9s. Learned the hard way on a lot of things and cost a lot of money. But now I know.

Yes. Car was ment to be an allmotor weekend fun car and we ended up running 11.6 @ 114 allmotor, then the owner wanted to jump to the nitrous world lol and that was the result.

Im assuming this would be the high comp b20 bottom end? If that's the case, how did you get the pistons to clear the valves using the tuner 2 cams?

Its a b20b, its not a "high comp" block. Never had any issues with the piston/valve clearance.

I would like to update this thread.


I finally was able to figure out all of my fueling problems after my embarrassing showing at IFO about a month ago...
I was also able to do alot of testing with the FTW Clear vs Q/C16 and C85. Anyway
Ended up making a good bit of power on motor, but Nitrous is all i cared about. Direct port 100 setup, i ended up making 38xwhp with a nitrous leak at the block. Fix it, and went back just to see, i ended up making 420whp on just a 100shot on FTW Clear Fuel.

Stock sleeve 85x89 B20VTEC. I'll be going back to the track hopefully in a few weeks. Just bought a new house and been really busy..

That thing should boogie DDTECH. We know what 400+ whp does with the all motor cars at 2150 or whatever they weigh. I know it is a little different, but that thing should be a solid mid/low 10 car if not better after you get some practice with it and get it all sorted out.

wow thats impressive. 11.6@114mph is insane on motor. Thats good to know that low comp b20 pistons clear cams bigger than type r's.

There are at least 5 sub 10.50 Kseries setups that I know of, hell on 1 went on 10.48@132 on stock motor, 225~ ish DP on C16. I went 11.62@123mph with a simple 100 shot on a k20a2 that made 215whp on motor in 2011. Been thinking of putting the car back together with a big DP kit.

With a dedicated fuel setup/fuel cell and race gas there is no reason one can't go 9s. I was thinking about going for 9s, with a 260-270whp K20 or K24/k20+ a 200ish shot with dedicated fuel pump/cell with c16 but then sort of gave up when no one could give me a solid answer on what custom pistons+ strong enough rods to run for the big shot/somewhat while still being somewhat streetable at 270whp~ on motor.

With the price of what it takes too put together a fast nitrous setup you'd think there would be plenty in the 9s, someone needs too allow them in a class like said above.

Except a nitrous car makes double the tq of the all motor 400whp setups lol. That car is going to be a bad bitch once dialed in, DD you plan on spraying 1st gear at the track?

I don't know if he ever held any records or anything, but I did buy my first nitrous kit from him. Back in like 1999-2000 I ordered a dry kit from him and put it on a D16Y8. Ran a 60 dry shot through it, then sold the kit later to a friend that had the same car and engine except his was an automatic. We used to sneak people with that one.
