hi all, im re-doing my car for the 2011 season, and upgrading the fuel system as req`d, as i currently run just the in-tank walbro, which has served me well tbh.

anyway, i want to run twin bosch 044 pumps next year (b18 72mm setup now) now i see most run a sump, but i dont want to do it purely for bandwagons sake, and seeing as the stock tank design has an anti-slosh section where i would take my feed for the bosch pumps, i just cant see why a sump is needed. has anyone done a twin 044 setup, just pulling there own fuel from the stock location, just with an increased bore pickup/feed? are the 044`s ok as suction pumps? i realise i wont be able to run tiny amounts of fuel in the tank, but i dont anyway, as were weight limited in my drag class, and im underweight as it is.

2nd point, where do you guys get your -10 an fuel rails? golden eagle is the biggest i can find but thats only -8?

well im going to run -10an lines, as per the norm, so seems logical to fit a rail of matching bore. i think full blown do a -10an rail?

I strongly prefer running a surge tank.
This allows you to keep your unmolested oem style pump, which can fill the surge
tank easily and reliably.
2x Bosch 044 pumps into -10 is a great set-up.
And I like running large diameter fuel rails, the increased volume reduces the pulsations
in the rail caused by the injectors opening and closing.

yes that was another plus of the larger volume rail, as i will be binning the stock anti-pulse canister. i did think about a surge tank, but im a bit stuck as to mounting it, as i cant have any fuel in the cabin, and i cant see where one would fit anywere else. i notice a lot of you guys dont run surge tanks anyway, or thats the impression i got from the "post your fuel system and questions" thread.

i didn't realize sumping was a bandwagon LOL. Just sump it and be safe and sound.

I wouldn't call a sump 'safe and sound'. It's a horrible way to get fuel out of a short and wide tank.

Why not purchase the FCS fuel cell with the sending unit? It's a great piece, holds 5.1 gallons and mounts in the stock tank location.

i know the shape of the stock tank is not perfect, which is why i thought a tall narrow surge tank would be the way to go, but since i cant really fit one anywhere on the car, thats out.


so im just looking for peoples actual experiance from running powerfull pumps sucking there own supply from stock location pickups, did you suffer air bubbles etc?

The stock tank tends to rust out, etc. I'm sure the inside of your tank isn't in the best condition...no ones really is. If you use the FCS cell or any other aluminum cell it is a closed system. This is what I just did, and I run absolutely no filters. In the end, it is the better way to go.

Absolutely no filters? I'm not sure thats something I would ever do. At the very least, one before the fuel rail.

im putting the FCS fuel cell on this week thank goodness! Tony i agree the sump on a stock tank isn't the best thing out there for sure, ESPECIALLY for street driving lol. I hate hearing my pump starve everytime i hit the brakes even with 5 gallons in the tank.

why not run the dual walbros? people have made plenty of good power with them. Supra guys run triple walbros and make good power as well.

running into any moisture/ oxygenated fuels will rust the oem tank after being cut. you will definitely need to coat the inside of a oem tank after being modified in any way.

ive seen a coated tank after and they will never be 100% coated inside.
