Re: Tempest Racing off season EG coupe project
picked this carbon/carbon up used here on HT actually....put it in the car and it worked great on the dyno for a couple pulls, then it took a dump and i had to have it repaired. ended up not being as good of a deal as it seemed, but still paid less than half price of a new one! the pressure plate took a crap, was warped, etc.
let steve with the hotrod civic use one of the disks at world cup finals at MIR and he was awesome enough to just have tilton send me a brand new one to replace it (the one i let him use was brand new) awesome guy, thanks steve
my intergra was slow for a long time and couldnt figure out why, put a new clutch in it and it went half a second faster and picked up 10mph. after that experience i figured id buy a nice clutch. even the fastest pass in that car the clutch was slipping pretty bad.

Man, this car is going to be sweet! I personally couldn't complain if I could pick up a Tilton carbon carbon for less than 1/2 new. Not saying you are, but thats a big price for most of us. Do they last forever?

I've been building this car slow trying to buy parts at the right price. It's been paying off so far. Hope that continues. At the level these cars are at now it gets really expensive. Axles, Ppg, carbon twin, billet bell housing, etc is like 15k or something crazy. I just can't bring myself to spend that kind of money on something that's still going to break. Still not sure what I'm going to do about a trans

yea i had a liberty previously, i cant buy darren's (vtekthis) gearset because then i would be promoiting him not racing lol (good friend of mine). ive eyeballed the gforce stuff a little bit. im sure the ppg stuff is nice, but you can buy 2 of any other gear set for that price...i'd rather have one in the car and a back up lol gotta draw the line somewhere

That reason right there to me is why Liberty's is still the best bang for the buck. But I dont go fast, I just try to use some logic. Save the cheese from the not buying the PPG would pay for axles and some other items I would guess. Its just like people preach, just get it out racing and not chasing a dream setup. But you more than know that.
Have you entertained the idea of a syncro set? I know its more wear items, but the more streetable the car is the more fun you will have with it.

Looking good Joe i knew you couldn't go forever without a new FWD car lol.
What i like about G force is that there right in PA. I broke a tooth off of a 3rd gear (5 year old gearset) in my VW trans and They made a gear and had it treated and sent back to me in a little over a Week! Can't get much better than that.

yea ive called gforce 2-3 times now and i keep having to leave messages and have not gotten a call back, i guess it must be from all the holiday stuff going on. i'll probably pick up a gear set as one of the last pieces of the puzzle. cage is next in line, hopefully can get that going next week. i also need to go and take some pictures, unfortunately have too much stuff going on to do that today
