T1 triger censor
anyone ever have one go bad??
so i go to start the ol crx yesterday for some test and tune, and well wouldnt start. i checked for fuel good to go, check for spark and no bueno. so i look for stat sync and no bueno. i did voltage checks to the censor itself from the pro14, and good to go. so looks like the censor is gone.
so anyone else experience this?
and this has been on the car for 4 years now so i got my money out of it lol

Re: T1 triger censor
gap is correct, and i just got it to stat sync and shoot spark. the harness from it to the plug has a short. i had the wife crank it while i played with the harness and it would sync, and i pulled a plug, and did it again to verify spark
so its the censor that needs replaced

Yes we have had one go bad and we chased it forever. Talk to Tony. Our timing was doing all sorts of crazy things. We tried a new ignition box and all and it ended up being the sensor.

I had one of the old sensors go bad and chanced it down for ever. I guess I got lucky cause I bought the new style sensor cause it was the cheapest thing to replace and works flawless.

Re: T1 triger censor
i was chalking it up as a ign box as well then my tuner walked me through some trouble shooting steps and when we didnt get stat sync and had power to the censor we knew it was either the censor or the air gap lol

Re: T1 triger censor
the sensor is a haltech s4 (grey) dual pole hall effect sensor..
I know back in the day they used to be available for around $100 but It's been a while since I have looked.

We stopped using the Haltech sensors over a year ago due to failures (most were failures in testing before shipping). The new ones are my own I had made and have a SS body instead of aluminum. They work with a much bigger air gap than the Haltech sensors do.

I havent used a haltech branded sensor since probably 2004, but I dont remember those being aluminum back then. Your kits are cheaper/better than what I was able have made locally.
I actually think I got a hold of one of the aluminum sensors a few weeks ago.. customer brought in a car with the stuff all ready installed but still running on the distributor because they couldn't get the ecu to see anything from the sensor. I had to close the air gap down to about 0.030" to get it to work.. it lasted 3 days.

The Haltech one has been aluminum for as far back as I remember. They used to work well at .075" air gap or so and then they changed the chip on them and the air gap requirement got really small.

The sensors failing in operation is rare. Most problems we that they weren't strong enough in testing so they never shipped out. I test all of the sensors before shipping.
