Re: Putting the Bseries vitara's to the test
yes they are the jft rods that brings the pistons to correct compression spec. rather than having eagles that make it very low.

Re: Putting the Bseries vitara's to the test
there is a difference between they work, and they work good, or even work right.
eagles dont make the compression very low, the pistons do. the idea of custom rods so that $200 pistons for the wrong motor work baffles me.
but ill stop thats not the topic of this thread.
So am i reading this correctly that the b-series version of these pistons does have the correct compression height?

yes.. my compression is 9.6 with these pistons in a type r motor. depending on the head you have and block will vary on compression with these.

the motor still isn't in the car. ??????? not my build, so i have no say. just supplied the part and machine work.
thought it would have been out by now.

Re: Putting the Bseries vitara's to the test
well i've had the nippons in for 1500 to 2000miles at 460whp and there holding up just fine. going to dyno on the 27th to maybe make a lil more with them.

Re: Putting the Bseries vitara's to the test
you must tell him when ordering if using stock rods or aftermarket. extra 50 for machine work and the c clips for after market rods.

but with standard rods they dont work good, they suck *** in fact.

When FJT came out with the pistons... People jumped on it cuz it made the car more peppy outta boost... And those other guys were looking for big HP numbers...
Either way for a budget racer... Vitaras OWN... Nobody said your gonna make a million HP with them... But they get the job done...

YOu might wanna do a lil more research before you continue to run your mouth... Even wit the low compression... People have had great success on vitara setups... The pistons allows for alot more boost to compensate for the lack of compression...

um way to bring **** back from the dead.
i have been building and tuning turbo honda's for 10 years now and all the research you have read about, i have done.
with standard rods, vitara's are junk, put hte long rods in and they are good for a budget setup.. .just remember that you can never upgrade to a "real" piston.
you realize that with standard rods the compression is down around 7-7.5:1?

those FJT long rods are cheaper than eagles so who f-ing cares? why even open your mouth and waste your time in this thread????
i built my vitara motor for under $600 and made 405whp with simple turbo kit. ANYONE should be able to appreciate that, and give props to someone doing more, with less.
if you cant do that, keep your hater a$$ comments to yourself while the rest of us try new things and keep innovation in the honda world going.
seriously.

I love budget ****. If I ever build a motor Im gonna do eagles and these in my ls thats a big if though, I want to just do methanol on it and see what I can make on that safely.

Re: Putting the Bseries vitara's to the test
you realize that standard rods put compression ratio's right around what a dsm is stock right? and you realize that dsm's put out an assload of hp at that compression right? and you do realize that people (including myself) have quadrupled the stock d-series hp with nothing more than vitara pistons and eagle rods right? and you do realize your being ignorant as f#ck right?

****, I gotta buddy that went 10.9 last year, at altitude in Colorado- 5800', on a streetable standard Eagle/Vitara set-up. And hell, at this altitude, his compression is probably closer to 6.xx:1.
Keep in mind he's the second fastest D series in Colorado, right behind a fully built and sleeved D series all out race car.

Re: Putting the Bseries vitara's to the test
Put My car back on the dyno Yesterday. Made a few changes from last time i was on the dyno. New Afi Ramhorn manifold. (previously had a ccfab), New Downpipe, Throttle body, and cut a 3 foot section out of my ex in the back. previous tune was 460 and 337 at 20psi on the nippons. New results are 522hp, 369tq on 20psi using 93 pump gas. still Using the nippon pistons. Will post Dyno sheet as soon as i get it from my tuner.
Heres my setup.
81mm b18c typeR, Stock sleeves
stock typeR head
typeR cams
Eagle rods
Nippon pistons
BW S362 NET turbo.
Afi ramhorn
VictorX intake
custom 3in downpipe and ex.
