Re: New vp c85 any good?
I'd like to hear what Mr Palo thinks about this fuel running the ID's. I recall a large write up he did about E85 and how it was very corrosive.

Re: New vp c85 any good?
Doesn't matter who blends the ethanol, you still have to be aware of things and maintain your fuel system. I'm sure the C85 will work great. If pump E85 works good, any racing blend should at least work that good and have more consistency.

Re: New vp c85 any good?
Is there anything to do to maintain my fuel system, I'm running c16? Fuel been sitting in the car going on 2 years.
|
Re: New vp c85 any good?
haha. Well for sure the fuel is no good! I'd at the very least put some fresh filters on it and flush the system.

will it work with the id's tho? whats it mixed with?

Re: New vp c85 any good?
If there is no MTBE in it it should be fine.

Re: New vp c85 any good?
Talked with my local VP rep today. He deals a pretty substantial volume of VP products in SE georgia and i have been seeing people post MSRP prices of anywhere from 600-750 for 55 gallon drums.
i was given a price of 425.00 a barrel or 50.00 bucks for a 5 gal. pale i get a pretty good discount with him but i couldn't imagine his walk in pricing being more than 500-525 or so a barrel. we ordered a 5 gal. pale today. going to be doing a back to back test against pump e85 in the next 2-3 weeks. ill post back the results. |

Re: New vp c85 any good?
I'm interested in hearing more from other C-85 users who are running ID injectors. I planned on stepping away from "pump" E-85 this next season thinking that C-85 was the best answer. I know that E-98 is a good choice but I'm just not sure that I have enough fuel system for it, so C-85 would have to be the next choice. I'm sure there are others out there in the same boat.
In for more info guys! |
Re: New vp c85 any good?
I made 991hp with C85 on 8x 1100 FIC
Iam pretty sure Tony (T1), Rob Morse(TPR) and Speedfactory are running ID injectors they all run FTW race fuel w/MTBE MTBE swells ID2000s to around ~1800cc We have a car running vp import with FIC2150 made 892hp |

I know on my car when we made the switch from e98 to c85 we picked up power on the same boost level. It took less of a fuel system to make power with e98 cause of the swelling of the injectors
1QwikEf- What injectors were you running and what kind of power did it make? |
Re: New vp c85 any good?
Is the swelling exactly the same on each injector? I'd be surprised.
If not, what's the point of paying to have a perfectly matched set of injectors, which might end up slightly different after swelling, to an ''undetermined'' flowrate? Just asking... |

Re: New vp c85 any good?
because matching dead time is way more important than a flow rate

Re: New vp c85 any good?
We switched to the c85 at the last min. All I know is its working fine and the cars running great. Makes plenty of power and still plenty of Injector.. will be changing to mtbe compatible Injectors over the winter.

If you have 4 injectors having exactly the same response times / dead times, but they all differ slightly in fuel flow after swelling, you kinda lose a part of what was gained by the dynamic flow matching. This being said, I have no idea if swelling will be exactly the same for each injector after being exposed for a given time, but I doubt ID would assess this. I believe ID is just smart not to recommend any % of MTBE being used with ID2000s as it might prove difficult to evaluate with precision how the swelling occurs, how it affects actual flowrate vs. exposition time and how it affecta ''set matching''. |
