there are options out there that aren't that much. you could modify stock gears to work as a dog box for around $3000, full dog gear sets start at around $6500 and go up from there. I think that Liberty is out of the picture for right now, I don't think they are going to do anything for the k-series.

In my book 3K is alot of money!

I might have a slider, anybody have a wasted gear to commit to the cause? Oh, and I'll need somebody to try and break it...

I am used to it, everything on the k-series is expensive.

Just let me know what you need, I have 3 torn down transmissions just sitting here. My only problem is it will be a few months before I will have a running car to break anything you come up.

Being that we make alot of HP in our turbo car shifting gears hasnt really been a problem. But I do agree 2nd gear is week on the mainshaft on the k series. Pro shifting 2nd just makes shifting easier, but won't solve the weak mainishaft problem. For Drag app, someone just needs to make a whole new tranny in a stock case.

THE SAMETHING HAPPEND TO MY BUDDIES TRANNYAFTER SPINING HARD ON FIRST GOING INTO SECOND, BUT 2ND GEAR ON THE MAIN SHAFT WAS COMPLETELY GONE, ON THE COUNTER SHAFT IS NICKED JUST LIKE THAT ONE. HE'S ALSO BROKEN 4TH GEAR, BUT WE'RE THINKING IT WAS DO TO THE LOAD ON THE DYNO PULLS, IT WAS RIGHT AFTER THE DYNO SESSION WHEN IT BROKE, AND THE PULLS WERE ON 4TH GEAR. SOME HAVE BROKEN 4TH AT THE TRACK. SO IT WOULD BE GOOD TO SEE WHAT WORKS WITH THE K-SERIES TRANNY'S.

I did some work on this today, it's looking like we have the same steel on both
B and K series tranys. This is good news, the B stuff has been working great for me so the same treatment should work on the K.

I have some stuff out at a lab being checked right now, results should be in
tomorrow. It's looking like Honda use's better steel then I thought they did...

Next they are off to a surface treating company to see just what will work if
anything. I'm thinking a shot pean will help a good bit.

Still working on the Pro Shift stuff.

Some other details from today, it looks like the 5 speed trans is going to be
easier on 2nd gear syncro. The gear is smaller in diameter and much lighter
then 2nd gear on the 6 speed. Something to keep in mind. It also seems like
there is a good bit more to be had by tweeking my treatment a bit. More on this
after I get the results from the lab..

Some bad news, 2nd gear on the K is .100 thinner then the B. The good news
is they use a closer tooth spacing so we have more teeth being loaded at the
same time. Maybe a wash?

Ok, figured out pretty much what steel these things are made out of. I expected
better from Honda! LOL

Pretty sure I can stop 2nd gear from ripping off the shaft. Going to retreat and retest early next week..

The only problem will be how long it will shift with the little syncro, hope to know
something soon on the pro shift..

Steve...I hope you can come up with something that will help these guys out. The K market is growing pretty rapidly and hopefully soon we can get some more people to help out with the 2nd gear issue and make us some parts!!

Parts that are affordable

Its funny that I have sold many dog boxes throughout the years but, never had enough to buy one for myself

For those that are not making crazy horsepower...a good somewhat smooth engaging clutch is gonna be your friend. Also driving style will also effect how long your trans lasts. Ultimately will be the original wear and tear....its probably not wise to expect much life out of a trans that has over 80k of mileage @ 198hp and then just throwing 700hp at it You guys might want to try freshening things up with new bearings and resetting all your clearances back to spec at minimum.

For those making big numbers...I will pray for your 4th gear
