Default making a 10 sec car, into a 9 sec car

Hi all, i am looking for some advice, and given that the US drag scene is a hell of a lot moer developed than the UK one it made sense to ask you guys for the advice.

My car i would say is a safe 10 sec car (not done yet as no clean runs were achieved), but what steps do people generally make to step up to get close to or achieve the 9 sec bracket?

My brief spec is as follows:

92 delsol
Sleeved B18C4 block (same as your C1)
Front mounted BW S372R with race cover (just changed to this from a GT4094R)
Stock GSR Cams
Supertech v.springs and retainers
Adjustable cam wheels
S300 management
1600cc injectors
3" boost pipes
Hondata BBG (just wired in, was on manual before)
Full throttle shift (just wired in, was not in place this year)
24.5 x 8 x 15 Mickey T ET Drag slicks
Hydro handbrake (just installed)
MFactory stage 2 shafts
MFactory drag 1st gear in s9b box with 4.05 final drive.
Kevlar trunk
FRP Hood
2.2gal Fuel cell, with 2 x bosch 044 pumps, Aeromotive reg
Weld in rollcage

Car weighs ~2200lbs without me, so say 2430lbs with. Obviously some weight can still come out, but the car is fully stripped to conform with normal outlaw regs (as far as i know), i am also looking at swapping the 15" slicks for 13" ones if it is found to aid the half track.

If fully mapped up on Q16 i am expecting to see ~750-800hp ouf of the car. Where do you think that would place it capability wise?

So i guess what im asking is, is what i have already "capable" of a 9 sec pass and the only thing that needs improving is my talent level!, or are there any obvious improvements that could be made?

You can go 9's with that power.

Thanks for the reply, i realise that having too much power can also be a hinderance, i guess im just keen to know if the general opinion of the spec of the car i have said is consistent with cars already running 9s, power aside....

I should mention that the car has adjustable coilovers on it, but i am unsure of the spring rates are they were second hand. They are stiff though! Its also on solid engine mounts.

Boost by gear for sure will help when you are dealing with that much power. Probably one of the bigger improvements you can make on your short track time.

Thanks, thats encouraging, it was VERY difficult to get the car off the line without spinning up the first 2 gears. I think the best 60' i managed was only 1.8 due to that. I do have a traction bar as well (sorry i keep thinking of things i should mention!)

Pull some power from it in 1 & 2 gears.
You will be able see 9 sec pass.
I rans 9.7 with 670hp only and 9.4 with 730hp.

Dude we have been going 9's on pump gas - i'd say somewhere in the 750HP range.

Best pass to date was 9.7 @ 145mph and thats on some old M&H 24.5 x 8 x 15, you already have the boost controller on the car it's just a matter of getting some track time and dialling her in.

yeah i know Lou, im just wanting to see in the broader market if theres anything else i could add to help my cause. Im certianly not suggesting that ill aim for a 9 next year but it would bve great to know that i may have to tools to enable it at some point in the future.

I am really hoping that the addition of

hydro handbrake for staging
BBG
FTS
Improved suspension at the front/rear
drag 1st gear

will help make huge improvements over what went on this year alone.

You should definitely get 9's with that build. Boost by gear FTW! And if you get bored, skunk2 pro1's or something..

What kind of "pump" gas are you using to make 750whp?

UK Premium 99 octane (so youre 93 MON if i recall?) they arent lying about that, this is the same shop that tunes mine, the car in question is (and correct me if im wrong here guys) a 2.2toda stroker k20 with a GT4294R and everything to support.

I take that back anyway, 147mph isn't 750whp, more like 650-675, which is prolly the edge of 99u octane

well it is an EP3, although i think it is a little lighter than that! Uphill track tho

even then they would be talking about 750 at the crank, not at the wheels....so what you say rings true

Car is around 1050KG's, motor is K series BC 2.2ltr GT4294, EP3. Track is a little uphill.

We actually ran 9.993 @ 151 on straight UK 99 fuel and synchro trans. We have since changed a couple of things, car went 9.70's @ 145, but later on in the year

Car has never pulled more than 650WHP on the dyno the rest is tuned at the track. You tell me how much it's making (bearing in mind YOUR car on YOUR track can be way different to what we have in the UK)
