Has anyone ever seen this before?
A stock USDM Integra GS-R run solid mid 14 second 1/4 mile times consistently and trap in the mid 90's? Because I recently have seen just that. Now it's been a long time since I've taken a stock Honda to the drag strip, but this past Friday I went with a buddy from work and his younger cousin who is just getting into Hondas/racing with a recently purchased 1994 GSR coupe. His first pass was a 15.91 with a crappy 60' of like 2.5x but his trap speed was 94 mph. I was very intrigued so I told my buddy to hop in and do a pass since he's more experienced than the young owner, and he wheeled it to a 14.66@94 with a 2.2x 60'. He then let me do a pass, and with the air getting a bit cooler as the night went on my pass was a 14.59@95 with a similar 2.2x 60'
After this we let the kid have his car back, (lol) along with some pointers and even he was able to click off a couple of 14.9x passes with this thing his first night ever at the drag strip. Looking under the hood, it is a 100% stock appearing B18C1, except for a K&N panel filter in the stock airbox and the "snorkel" or "silencer" is removed. The header and exhaust system appear stock, the cat looks newer but stock style, it's wearing a typical GSR intake and is running on an OBD1 P72-Axxx ecu. Doing a quick compression test on the hot engine yielded a reading of 230-235 from all cylinders, so I doubt there's some high comp Pistons hiding in there. What gives? The car is on HX wheels with some 195 Bridgestone tires, and the trunk is gutted to the metal with no spare or tools. Perhaps the weight of the car helped it that much? The only other thing I can think of is that the engine was rebuilt at some point and maybe is just very healthy? I mean the odo reads 182k and the engine does look super clean, and has a Gates timing belt visible on it, so maybe there's a set of cams hiding in there or an overbored shortblock? What's everyone's opinion? Worth telling the kid to let us open his engine and see what's inside or could a factory stock GSR really make these #'s? I'm thinking GSRs are listed at like ~2660lbs, maybe 2600 with the hatch area gutted like it is, so to trap 95 mph im going to say this "stock" B18C1 has to be making about 165-170whp.

Re: Has anyone ever seen this before?
this is possible. sounds like a really healthy well taken care of motor to me with a little weight reduction. i've seen low 14's in a full weight gsr car with cai, header, exhaust, 15" rota knock offs on every day street tires, and tune.

Yea I've definitely seen a ton of Integras in the 14's with bolt ons and even a few in the high 13's, my daily driver included, but for a stock GSR to trap 95 and go mid 14's I was very shocked. I was expecting like low 15's at maybe 89-90 with the power a stock GSR makes vs the fairly heavy weight of the GSRs. I had to do a good bit of part removal and replacing things with lighter parts to get mine even in the 25xx pound range, so I doubt he lost that much weight just in the trunk carpet and spare tire. I know the small/lightweight HX wheels we're helping too, but I didn't expect a 180k mile stock B18 to pull that hard. We pulled the valve cover and opened the ecu, no chip or socket in the ecu so it's a stock P72 and the head looks to be stock as well. "Shrug" I guess maybe I'm just jealous lol. My stock GSR engines over the years have never made this power, and i was just shocked that this stock freak is doing as well as Type Rs. I mean if this thing is doing 14.5 @95 stock, then a good header, exhaust and a tune should have it really woken up.
