bothwell run at veags

Re: bothwell run at veags (fast is fun)
8.2's & 8.3's did'nt slow him down?
I saw that car run a 7.8's while lifting at the top end last year.
How do you figure the rule changes have'nt slowed them down?

Re: bothwell run at veags (Fabman)
Anyone else think it is lame to have banned slipper style clutches?? This is a Pro class, but it seems that they have to abide by a sportsman type or rule. Was it a cost thing? If that is so, why not get rid of the Tilton Carbon/Carbon??? That thing is somewhere in the neighborhood of three or four grand I believe. It just sux to make a team that works harder come down to a lower level and wait for others to catch up.

i think the idea behind the ban is to get the class to catch up and level out, THEN after that happens is when they allow the other stuff
last year the gm cars were chasing away lot of the competition, hence the large amount of those going hotrod to sport fwd

Bothwell ( Lummus ) ran 8.30 lifting at the 900 Ft. mark. That sets him around 8.0 or 7.90's. Not too far off his pace from last year.

Dam all the rule revisions didnt hurt them at all. They have a great team and just found way to make more power or something good job.

slider clutches were banned to give more of a definitive separation between hr and pro fwd. ron's and marty's sunfires could probably consistently qualify 3rd and 4th in pro fwd if things were left the way they were.

i guess thats the price people will have to pay for being innovative and working hard to run fast. sucks big time.

I love the new rule since I can't afford a slipper clutch. Maybe people would change their tune if they had to compete, on their own dollar, against these cars with an almost unlimited budget.

Re: bothwell run at veags (Garcia-Racing)
So what type of clutch are you running???? How much do you think a slipper style clutch costs?? Like I said before, if cost is the determining factor in outlawing slipper clutches, then the Tilton Carbon/Carbon should be banned also...Hell, let's just make it a class where everyon has to factory clutches.. might as well. since one person can't afford a slpper, then next can't afford what that guy can afford, then the next guy can't afford what that guy can afford and so on and so on.. it is a never ending cycle. I bet there are some guys out there who want to race that can't afford after market axles. Should those get banned also.. That is also a performance advantage...I'm all for limiting the turbo size, tire size, engine size, but leave the other things alone.

I didn't ask for the rule, but I'm glad its here. No carbon/ carbon here either, I'm still rockin the 6 puck. Trust me, if I had the $$$ for one I'd run it, too.

Yeah seriously , you can have a slipper clutch for about a 1g more so I don't think its cost. There simply trying to slow the class down a little.

Re: bothwell run at veags (2.0Coupe)
I was told that is is a money issue, not allowing the slipper clutch. But, not from a part standpoint, from the fact that it takes another crewmember to use it properly. You almost have to have a "clutch guy" and smaller teams can't afford to have another guy at every race.
