Bolt in Aluminum sunroof plug!
Thought id share with a few of you drag racers a bolt in roof insert i had my coworker make for me... Its contoured front to back and side to side, and has a down turned flange that you can drill holes through to bolt it in.. Total weight is 4lbs...
We have a Yoder power hammer at my shop that we use to shape metal.. This is my co-worker with a steel insert that we make for 1933/1934 Ford's
Anyway will have some pics of it mounted in my car in the next few days...
Tell me what you guys think...

Re: Bolt in Aluminum sunroof plug!
i have not made one for an EG but it would only take a cardboard pattern of the sunroof opening and a cardboard pattern of the contour.. pretty easy to make those..
This has a 1/8" gap all around.. i am probably going to paint this one and seal it in...

Ok so i tested this insert on an EG today, the contour is the same but the roof hole is just a little bit different... Either way i can make one for an EG it will be easier than i thought since the contour is the same!!
i should have this mounted tomorrow evening... just been busy as hell the past 2 days! lol....
Thanks guys

lol, I will have it installed tomorrow.. pics will come.. shitty ones from my phone tho ...
This was the first one, and i have a feeling the gap might be a little bigger than i want it but that can be changed with other ones..

Not installed just sitting in there... the next one i make will definitely have a tighter gap!
i need to rivet some tabs on the flange so i can mount it.. the flange is only 1/2" and it needs to be about 3/4".. ill do that on monday when i get back to work and get some aluminum.. itll still be pretty easy to mount

Re: Bolt in Aluminum sunroof plug!
Myles, you could also do some sort of rubber lining on the ends to fix the gap and help with sealing water for the street use.

Re: Bolt in Aluminum sunroof plug!
Well guys ive been slacking beyond belief lately , the weather in the NW really has a way of making you not want to work on your car.. But that being said i finally got my damn sunroof plug painted and mounted and sealed up! Wish i had a better camera to take pics other than my cell phone but here is the end result:
Fitment on this one is good, but could be better.. the way i mounted it made the gap up front about 3/16" and the rear less than 1/8".... and the sides were about 1/8" on each side....
Side to side contour is EXACT like really its perfect... overall its not bad, im pretty happy with it.. I painted it back so it looks like glass from far away...
