9-11-01 NEVER FORGET. ... (where were you)

i know this is not directly drag racing related but who cares. i know that 9-11 affected each and every one of us.

Where were you and what were you doing on this day 10 years ago?

I was in high school and we had a motivational speaker that morning about setting goals and what it takes to reach them. It was in between peroids as i was going to a photography class when an anouncment was made over the PA. that said "teachers please turn on your tv's and turn on the news" i was a bit puzzled but as soon as i walked into class i saw the second plane fly into the tower. the calssroom went silent. everyone sat down and watched the tv wondering what just happened. then we heard about the plane into the pentagon and the plane down in the field. we spent a couple hours in the same classroom in complete silence.School was dismissed early so everyone could go home and be with their families.

NEVER FORGET!

RIP -343

I was in Kitzengen Germany at Harvey Barraks sittin in a Unit Training course, and we were pulled out of it. I was then assigned to ride the Private school vans that picked up the kids of all the igher ranking officials with an M16 loaded and ready for any type of conflict.

I was in high school in NY and watched from the 5th floor science room as everything happened...Once the first tower dropped me and a group of friends all left school and packed into a 4dr accord to go get our love ones...There was about 6 family members of mine along with 4 close friends who were by the towers. They all survived except for my cousin Victor barbosa

My sister is now in Afghanistan fighting for our country day in and day out...
Please support our troops!

I had just graduated HS and joined the Army 13 days before the attack.

Definately changed my viewpoint on a lot of things.... especially what was to come with my new enlistment.

sophmore year of high school..Bronx ny...they made the announcement during homeroom but nobody took it seriously..and the a few min later the said another plane hit...thats when we started to wonder...then during science the next period 2 jets flew by the school really low and it sounded like a bomb...everyone hit the floor....my school was borderline with manhatan so no busses were passing and my friends came to pick me up...

that day was a disaster...you could see the smoke from the bronx..

I was in a foundations of education class in Youngwood, PA. After the class the deen of the college asked everyone to meet in the cafeteria, where he told us all to leave because he had been notified by the County emergency unit that there was a plane in the airspace that may be hijacked. After we were evacuated from the school, I went to a friends house and were glued to the TV for hours.

I was 20, finishing up junior college, working retail, and spending any extra money cars. I didn't have class on tuesday and had the day off if work, so I slept in. I woke up around 9am pst, turned on the tv, happened to be on espn. Went to put some coffee on and enjoy a free morning. Looked at the tv and thought did they switch espn? I thought they were showing something old from another country like the munich olympics or something and then I stood and listened as they zoomed out and said 2 planes went into the WTC. For a split second I thought "what are the chances of that?" Then quickly realized it was an attack.

I remember watching for about an hour and then going outside and blasting Social Distortion while working on my car thinking the whole time this could drastically change the country.

I just returned from deployment after 7 1/2 months in the gulf. I came home early on September 10, 2001 when we pulled in to Hawaii to pick up tigers (family that got to ride the ship back to San Diego). I was a sleep when I got a call to turn the TV on. I watched the second plane hit the tower and thought I'm going to be recalled back to the ship. That night the carrier I was on pulled in to San Diego late at night so no one knew. It's crazy that's it's been 10 year. I hope this never happens again

I was in HTML class senior year in highschool in Florida. CNN was on in the classroom and thought it maybe a plane accident. Then I saw the 2nd airliner hit the other tower live and knew it was a terrorist attack. I enlisted shortly after in the delayed entry program and served 6 years in the U.S. Air Force.

I was at home getting ready to head to work at AEM when I saw the news coming across the television. I remember seeing the the footage of the second plane hitting and it was like watching a movie. I couldn't wrap my head around how this could actually be happening. :(

Was before work that morning and just happened to turn on the news to check the weather or whatnot... just as the first plane hit the World Trade Center. Watched as the 2nd did live thinking to myself this cannot be real, another plane just hit the other tower... this is no accident (up until that point the news anchors were speculating about the cause, if it was an accident, etc). Watched as people jumped from the windows and later as the towers collapsed, the Pentagon being hit, and so on. I called my boss who understood when I told him I would be late to work. Watched every minute of it, stunned at what I was seeing unfold. That day and what happened will be burned into my memory forever.

Never forget and never forgive.

Lucky for me I did not work in WTC that day, I was working on the roof of a Broad Street Verizon building. I was watching WTC 1 burn then all of a sudden I heard a very loud screaming noise. I started to run then I saw the plane crash into WTC 2. The fire ball from the explosion came so close to us we felt the intensity of the heat. Then I ran for my life!
The very next day while there were fires everywhere, we were forced to work disaster relief directly across from the site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/140_West_Street repairing Verizon lines and equipment. I would watch them pull the remains from area and the did not put out all the fires for at least a month.

i remember driving to work that day, sunroof open, windows down U2s beautiful day was playing on the radio (ironically on hot 97 a rap station). not too long after i got in we heard about the first plane, not knowing the scale of the situation everyone kind of went about their business assuming it was a small plane. just when i was thinking what a clear day it was and wondering how it could happen one of the mechanics came from the shop and said the other tower was hit and we are under attack. everything was so surreal the whole day with the reports of the other attacks and all the rumors afterwards. eeriest part was on the way home seeing no planes in the sky (we are right on a major flight path) just the occasional fighter or military chopper.
