Detailing a ATV

Figured this might be best spot for this. But im gonna try and clean up my 450r this weekend, my question how to remove the baked on mud off the engine? I tried just reg washing it today, and that didnt work. I was reading about Eagle one wheel cleaner, that is to do wonders, but also can darken aluminium? Anyone have any suggestions on what to try?

do not use anything with lye in it. citrus based cleaners are your best bet. have you tried pressure washing it with simple green or even some engine brite?

i have tried pressure washing it, but theres still brown tint to everything. I was reading about simple green. My question is will it have any effect on anytihng? Such as the aluminium or anything? I saw people using Shout stain remover, and saying very good things about it! So im going to give that a try tomarrow I think.

i have never had a problem with simple green and aluminum. try some engine brite, that gets caked on road grime and sludge off engines.

Use eagle one etching mag wheel cleaner or Get some aluminum brightener. This is the best way to remove the baked in less efforts.

aja72, i heard tho that eagle one stuff makes your motor look dull after awhile and can tint the aluminum peices. IDK for sure or not, but didnt wanan take the chance
