Your Opinion!
Hello dudes and female dudes!
This is my first post on Honda-tech and I would like to ask you guys for your opinion on a purchase I'm planning
Ok so I was looking around on Craigslist and found this dude selling a 1987 CRX Si which from the low quality pictures looks ok. (I asked the seller for more, better quality pictures). He's asking for $550 o.b.o and Im really thinking about buying it since I can come up with the cash by friday! woah! now another thing I'm only 17 meaning I don't have a drivers license but I could get my permit at any time now and drive the car with my mom (>_<) or cousin or sister since they do have licenses + I can't pay like $700 for freaking drivers ed, I rather wait until I'm 18
Here is a link to the ad:http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/cto/1342167979.html and please let me know what you think
I'm really excited and I always wanted a CRX so I think this is my chance to get one

Re: Your Opinion!
Well, if you're looking for a project car, it sounds like a good deal. However, if you're looking for something to just get in and go, this might not be the car for you. The ad says "needs ...." at least three times. I don't know, if I were you, I'd keep looking.

Re: Your Opinion!
what do you want to do to the car? these earlier cars are very difficult to find parts for and when you do they are generally expensive. a lot of people end up giving up and getting an 88+ at which you can find parts a lot more easily..
i would recommend an 88+ for a first time car person.. these cars can be very rewarding when built properly, but very disappointing if you want ease of parts availability.
and looking at that car, it's a hidden rust field. both rear quarters are shot, the panhard mount is probably rusted, the floor pan is probably gone too..

Re: Your Opinion!
I guess I'll just have to keep looking since the car is fairly old and like you guys mentioned its difficult to find parts for it. ill keep my eyes opened for something 88+ and thank you for your time and advice, I highly appreciate it.
