Its an 87 civic sedan im not driving it now so i want make a cold air intake. I know that this car is very slow and will never be fast but i was wandering if it will help me get better gas milege and do you think it can add a few HP? Any suggestions on how to make the cold air intake?

Is it carb'd? I know for EFI cars, installing a "short ram" intake can raise the temp of the air, thus reducing the density and resulting in less fuel being burned = better mpg, a little less power. Careful about simply increasing the diameter of the intake pipe, it can lead to loss of low end torque (again, a negligible amount). Don't forget, with a true CAI you risk water damage to the engine if you drive into a puddle. I say replace the filter element with something less restrictive (but still good at filtration) and call it a day.

Yeah, short ram intakes don't route air from behind a fender, they just maximize airflow from inside the engine bay. Like I said before, just put on a decent air filter and don't worry about it.

it can be made fast.i don't see where you'd think it couldn't.

anyways, it's not worth it and you won't feel a real difference.
