Pistons are cute little things, but the pistons from my nitro powered rockets are even cuter! The siamese twin sleeves are in great condition, as was the water jackets in the crank case, little to no erosion. As for the crank, it seems to be in very good condition, quite tight. Will have it checked and will hopefully fall within spec. Guide roller in perfect condition also.
Cheers, Paul.

Trolley finished, body mounted...will be loaded on trailer and taken to mates body shop shortly, where we will work on it together. Parts to be powder coated, and endless nuts, bolts etc on the wire wheel. Chain cases, diff housing, brake drums etc are being hyroblasted...and awaiting pick up. Cheers, Paul.

The body looks great to start, even the master cylinder shelf looks clean! Apart from the ding in the roof, any problem areas? Going to remain red?

The body is very good, sure to find a couple of small things to straighten up...but nothing major. Yes, will repaint in scarlet red...at this stage. To be perfectly honest though, I would love to paint it in a metallic dark silver/light charcoal, with a white stripe running across the top from head to tail. Reselling though, perhaps not the best way to go! Would not be to every ones taste, which I totally get! Cheers, Paul.

The colours available outside the Aussie market included a dark silver (not charcoal ) finish. It would probably look really good in that. If you stick with Scarlet, then best include the engine bay so its a cohesive outcome.

Yes, that's about perfect! Just what I had pictured in my mind. Do you Know if that is an actual Honda colour, on that particular car? Appreciate the pic, cheers, Paul.

This scan of my 1966 JDM brochure shows the metallic grey colour, far right, for JDM SM600 Coupe.
From left to right, Scarlet (R2), Moss green, Ivory (Y6), Black (option), Ivory, Royal Red (R13), Moss Green and then I cannot remember the names of the rest. I think Pacific Blue (PB31) is towards the end.

Cheers for that, a guess if it was painted in another S colour that would still fit in with the scheme of things. I know someone in the car wrapping business...who actually want to wrap my car! Don't know about that, but they could wrap the stripe instead of having it painted on...a lot less permanent and could also easily be removed by a new owner. Will need to work that out in due time! Is it a big sin to change the colour on these things? Paul.

"Is it a big sin to change the colour on these things"
To purists like myself, yes. To others, no.
I note you state that you will re-sell, so you need to be careful and consider your potential buyers in terms of colour choice. What you like becomes irrelevant, what the market wants is entirely relevant.
Then to some people, to repaint in a period correct and available Honda colour is not a great sin. But then both the purist and the novice market will sort you out on that. I guess if you consider what you already have. The car was delivered in Honda Royal Red. The person you bought from changed it to Scarlet because that is what he thought the car should have been, even though the colour tag was still in the engine bay stating its correct colour.
Even as a purist, I tend to agree that the more rare available colours, particularly metallic based, give the cars a more modern appeal whilst still being period correct.
I have to admit that even though my car was delivered in Scarlet, I have considered doing it Ivory, as that is what I like. But the to do it justice it would need a red interior, which I do not have.
S8 did Ivory with a black interior, but its just not as pretty as an Ivory S6 with a red interior.
I have also considered Moss green and one of the metallic colours which was recently applied to a car down in Victoria & looks stunning.
Anyway, waffling aside, If you tend to stick to a proper period correct Honda colour you really cannot lose. Its really the poor cars that get painted in colours which are not even close and or are just so unappealing on the car that devalue the car.
This said, you will always get the people who come along and say, I really wanted xyz colour, but will buy it and then do a crap job of over spraying it (externally) to the colour of their choice.

Just to make clear, I meant selling in general...not that I was going to resell soon as finished. Appreciate those comments, will see how we go when body work starts. My wife loves the car and would like it as a driver to work...only 7 km's away, will see how that plays out! She likes "Lily" in her current red at this stage...it is a nice red, must say!

Interesting that you are thinking of it as a daily driver or your wife. When we owned it my wife used it fairly much as a daily (local) driver, shopping car. It fitted into tiny spots at the shopping centre. But you could put shopping for an army in the back.

Parts back from powder coaters...again a nice job done. Also parts back from being hydra blasted, very nice finish on those also. Had my panel beater mate come and see the car for the first time today, she will be taken back to bare metal! Cheers, Paul.

The powder coating looks tremendous, but the hydra-blasting even better. The cling-wrap I assume is to stop moisture and loss of glossy look? What is your plan for the final finish on these parts?
Also, on the paint chart above, the color names are from L to R:
- Scarlet.
- Pastel Blue.
- Ivory White.
- Smoke Black.
- Ivory White.
- Royal Red.
- Pastel Blue.
- River Blue.
- Alpine Blue (metallic).
- Silver Sky (metallic).
- Alpine Blue (metallic).
- Iris Blue (metallic).
I am sure you can match the interior color (the seat), and the model specific colors accordingly. I've also got the full S600 and S800 color range charts posted here on HT too, which for some reason had not been accurately translated previously. Though, I think the colors have different names in English-language brochures too... Neko

Hi Neko,
Not sure what you mean by "final finish on these parts", as they are finished! I was recommended to rub them with kerosene/white oil, to preserve the aluminium...is that what you mean?
Thanks for chart info, the picture of the dark silver car is a puzzle...to me at least! I have seen these cars painted in what I believe to be silver sky, a light silver...which I am not interested in. To me the chrome highlights of the car disappear too much. The picture of the car on the brochure is darker, unless of course it's the printing... and what I was wanting, if I change colour. I was hoping it could be wet sand metalic, paint number 12080, which came up when trying to find out about S colours. If the light silver is the only option in a silver, then it will have to be the red!
