There are two. One is a silver canister with one red fuel line in and two that come out of it and go to the carb. That is up in the engine bay on the left hand side of the car.
The other is in the left side wheel well. Just take off the rear wheel and you'll see the white plastic filter sitting there.

you can get siphon pumps at a local auto parts store, but there should also be an actual drain bolt on the tank itself, i believe. there is one on my 86, my 88, and my 91.

Re: fuel filter location (2ndGenGuy)
thanks, so there's an actual plug at the bottom of the fuel tank? do you know about where it's located at on the tank, like toward the passenger, driver, front or back of the car. another thing was how do i remopve the filter, the doesn't seem to be any screws or anything. do i jusy replace the filter and encasing?

It should be on the bottom of the tank. On my 81 it's right on the backside for easy access. I dunno where it would be on yours, being the 82-83 is different from the 84-85 models.
And yes, you just undo the hose clamps on the filters and slide the hoses off. I think there might be a clamp around the rear one...

thanks i changed both filters and used carb cleaner, but my 82 won't stay on unless i pump the gas. the gas pedal responds in a way as if someone were to step on the pedal the rpm's would hesitate, accelerate and then deccelerate, all in one motion.
