hey, was thinking of purchasing a 79. the ad says it has a bad carb. does anyone make a carb kit or a adapter to run a different carb? also what is the wheel bolt pattern on one of these? Have tons of wheels and left over race tires would like to burn up on a crappy daily.

Unfortunately your wheels probably won't fit. They are 4x120mm. So pretty much only 1g Civic and 1g Accord fit. There were some early Mazdas that ran the same PCD but the offset is way off. Unless you like that RWD offset on your car. There are SOME aftermarket wheels out there. Either brand new from Panasport I believe ($$$$$) or some older used ones.

However, for your carburetor, you are in luck. There is a Weber swap kit that will bolt right onto your car. I think the full kit pre-jetted, with adapter plates and brand new carb is like $350-400. Or you can get just the adapter plates and run a used Weber or any of the Holley knock-offs that you can find at the junkyard.

There is as a matter of fact. How hard it is, depends on your experience. There are 3 or 4 of us on 3geez.com who have done the swap.

Take note, 79Cord is in Australia, Hazwan is in Malaysia and I'm in the US. But my car is an 81, so all of our cars might be slightly different!

1st gen Accord's are great and simple cars, I've had five of them over the years. Yes, the wheel bolt pattern is less common (4 x 120 mm) but you CAN find wheels, it takes persistence.

I have spare steel wheels (the later 80 & 81 style, 5" wide) and a set of aftermarket alloys (13 x 6) as well. I also know an owner with one or two spare sets of the "holy grail" Accord SE wheels - if you want these.

The car itself doesn't really lend itself to mega-wide wheels nor plus two or plus three set-ups. Factory wheels where 4.5" and then 5" (from 1979), European Accord's started with 5" and stayed there. 13" with 5" to 6" width works well.
