Default Engine swap for 1975 Civic CVCC

I have a clean '75 Civic that needs a new engine. Rather than finding a 30 year old original motor for it, are there any "popular" swaps for one of these? I was thinking along the lines of a D15 or D16 - something I can find easily, get for cheap and will be reliable. I'm also curious if a swap like this is going to consist of all custom mounts and axles. If anyone has any experience or ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thanks

The D-series are the more popular swaps for these cars... Since you've got a CVCC model, you'll have a little harder time making clearance for the front-exiting exhaust on the D-series motor. The front crossmember tends to be close to the engine. A bolt-in swap would be an EK1 from an 82-83 Accord. Quite a bit more horsepower and torque for the little Civic. I think the only mod you have to do is a little bit of fixing on the lower tranny mount and you're good to go. Check out 1stgencivic.org, there are a ton of people who have done the D and EK1 swaps. And I don't mean EK-chassis Civics.

zc's or d16a1 fight nicely in them

Sweet! Will be looking forward to seeing both of these projects. My 81 Accord is almost done, and is getting paint this summer, and after that my 600's are going to get the love as well.
