Easy alternator replacement tip for 87 accord
I have been meaning to post this for a while, and kept spacing it. It seems there are a few methods for replacing these alternators. Everything from removing heater hoses and dragging along firewall to other side of motor to removing items, and or jacking up the motor. I dont know how many years of accord this will work on, but I know it does on the 87. Maybe this information already exists, but I havent ran into it as of yet. This hack was discovered by complete accident when I attempted to replace the brushes with alternator still trapped in car. I had already removed the 3 bolts holding the back cover on, and was getting ready to start for the brushes when it slipped out of my hand and damm near hit me in the face as it fell out of the car.
So in short before you go removing any other component, try taking the back off the alternator. Put it up in there and then reattach it, and install. Done in minutes. Hope this helps someone. |

The "nearly" is key. Glad I didnt leave my face under it thinking it couldnt get me, cause it hit that hole perfect and pretty much fell right out.
