Distributor for 1986 CRX
I just ordered a new distributor for my 1986 CRX (Si I believe), and I have found that there are two different types made for that year, mitsubishi and hitachi. The one I think is on there right now is mitsubishi, and the one that came in the mail is a clone of the hitachi I believe, are they interchangeable? The diameter of the distributor cap is slightly less than the one currently on my car. Any help would be much appreciated.
Also, if anyone has changed out a distributor for a CRX, is it difficult? I was reading a manual last night and it made it sound "dummy proof", which only worries me more...
currently installed distributor part number - D4R85-10
new distributor part number - D4R84-67

Googling D4R85-10:

Looks like you got the wrong distributor
Edit:
To answer your question, replacing a distributor is VERY easy. Usually three bolts holding it to the head, one or two plugs to unplug and that's it. Putting on the new one is the same except for setting it to proper base timing. You'll need a timing light for that.
