Car runs after shut off.
Hey guys, I have a 86 civic 1.3 carbed.
When I shut it off it will try to start back up then die. then instantly gets flooded so I have to wait to start it back up. It runs perfect while running and never dies. It has a high idle and in 4th if I let off the gas and push the gas back in it sputters a little.
Someone told me it could be a "purge canister" but I would like some more input haha

Re: Car runs after shut off.
the gas bowl on the carb has a purge vent that goes to the charcoal canister.
But run on are usually due to partially opened throttle valve.
1)May be your idle speed is too high, it is supposed to in the 700-750rpm , so first lower it.
Otherwise
2) the idle speed boost may be activated.
3) the timing is off or the gas is not that great for your timing.
or a bit more tedious
4) In our carbs with 3 barrels, the first suspect is the vacuum activated throttle on the secondary barrel. An almost quick test : disconnect the vacuum line that goes to the vacuum activated valve on the front of the carb.... the issue is that you need to remove the air filter to access it.... so may adding an T with extra length of vacuum hose at the base of the T sitting next to the carb, and plugging it with a golf T, remove the T before shutting off the engine.... not convenient....
I am learning a few things a day to try to understand those carb myself to try fix my lean condition.
