If anyone else but me thinks this would be really cool to do for say Honda 1984-1987 let me know. I'd love to collect the scans and put them in a blog or different web site format, but would need quite some help getting the collection of scans (as buying all this of Ebay can cost a fortune).
Let me know who'd be game...

Anyone who's interested in seeing those great images of Honda from that period be made available for everybody, please email me whatever you have, high quality scans preferred and I will put them on a blog.
This way you can see all those images that you won't be able to all collect yourself including magazine ads and such.
Once we have this going I'd also feel that that would be a good time to ask Honda to contribute whatever material they have (which I am sure has to be a lot!).

An interesting picture...
The black license plates on the cars are California Dealer Plates from before 1969. Maybe Honda was planning on importing some LHD S series cars before they brought the 600 series cars to the US.
Note the variation of the Honda Motorcycle sales slogan from the 1960's, "You meet the nicest people on a Honda." Althought the two guys in suits look like a pair of Federal Agents waiting to bust someone for illegally smuggling cars into the country.

I used to think I loved the '88-'92 Hondas... now I'm thinking Honda's just gone downhill over the years, spending more time on their awesome engines. I think we've lost the coolness of the bodies over the years... Now, I'm sold. I gotta get me a real classic Honda!

From what I've noticed looking at numerous Japanese Honda brochures Honda of Japan loves using California plates in catalog pictures. Also, not to sound racest, but their catalogs are usually comprised of predominantly caucasian people as models as well, it almost seems as if they think that a caucasian California citizen lives the ideal life. It's my impression that the Japanese view the California lifestyle as luxurious and paradise-esq thus the feeling they want to present to their customers.
