Another antique Honda restoration by smithenhiven. 1952 Honda Cub F bicycle engine.
I mentioned this in a prior thread, but never made a thread specifically for this.
So here it is, this is among the first products produced by Honda. It's a 1952 Honda "Cub" f-type, auxillary bicycle engine. 50cc 1/2hp 2-stroke.
Here's a few pictures:
Considering it's over 50 years old, it's in pretty good condition. Some cleaning, and new paint, and it should look as good as new (like this one below).
Here's some Cub F literature I've managed to get my hands on:
I've been trying to find a period correct Japanese bicycle to mount it to, but I can't seem to find anything, so I'll probably just get an early 1950's american bike. Although not a perfect match, it'll serve it's purpose (in my opionion, american bicycles of that vintage look better anyway).

Most of it my friend in Japan finds, then I pay for it, and he send it to me.

Nice... you need to go ahead and get an old motorcycle while you are at it.

How about a 1964 Honda CB77 (305cc) Superhawk?
I've got one sitting in my garage waiting to be restored. I don't have any pics of it at the moment because it's half tore apart and is really the least of my concerns right now. Once I get a few of my current projects finished (namely the S600), then I will get around to restoring the old bike.

Hmmm, I think I might have found a bike to mount this on. It's a 1950's J.C. Higgins bicycle.
I know it's not a Jap bike, so it wouldn't be "correct" for the Cub-F engine, but I actually prefer the styling of the older american bikes. More flowing fenders, and frame design, just looks nicer.

Well, I missed out on the old J.C. Higgins bike, if anybody by chance has a 1940's/50's bicycle, or knows where I can get one, please let me know.

I appriciate your opinion, and I fully agree that a Japanese bike would be more fitting for this peice. However, finding a 1950's Japanese bike is no easy task.

Awesome, thanks for posting that link, I'm signing up now. I never thought to check and see if there was a forum dedicated to old bikes.

If anybody else was wanting one of these, here's your chance:

$2,000 and the reserve isn't met.

My thoughts exactly, I'm anxious to see what it sells for. The higher it goes, the happier I'll be with mine, lol
