Re: 89 honda accord help!!!!!
I have the same problem it happens randomly even when the engine is not cold (right after starting), it goes up to 2800-3000 rpms and does not want to come down for a minute maybe more. Same car 89 carburated.
I keep adjusting the idle and throttle cable in small increments to find a "sweet spot" because when the engine is at idle speed the rpms want to drop low enough to where the engine shakes when I'm not moving (in D or R with foot on brake) this makes me throw it into P or N at a stop, the rpms raise about 200 rpms thus engine doesn't shake or hesitate.
I'm not sure if it is a problem other than idle adjustment but for some reason it does bother me and I'd like to find out how to fix or tweak it. Other than that the car runs pretty good being 20+ years old.

Re: 89 honda accord help!!!!!
I had to constantly replace the carb on my 88 accord as it kept giving me idle and stumble issues after so many miles. When it had a new carb it ran awesome.
