88 accord lxi engine
Ok I got a 1988 honda accord lxi 2dr hatch with a 5 speed, the engine identification is complety corroded so I cant ID it. I'm guessing it has the A20A1 in it but I know the motors toast (yay for me, sux for my step bro cuz he gave up on it and gave it to me). Anyways I need advice for a replacement engine to make it faster than b4 but still cheap, do I put in an A20A3? Or is ther a cheap swap that won't take any major conversions? Basically fast easy but mostly cheap motor swap. Any advice?

There's nothing you can put in for cheap that will make the car fast. The A20A3 has maybe 15 more HP than the A1, and mostly because it's fuel injected. The motors themselves are nearly identical. You can get B-series mounts from Innovative though.

Re: 88 accord lxi engine
if it's an LXi, it already has the A3 in it, and it's already injected (that's what the "i" stands for)
fuel injected 120hp SOHC 2 liter out of the box.
there are some big cams available for the motor, i've seen a hatch get down to the 12s with little more than airway work and weight reduction.
b-swaps are easy, but probably not nearly as cheap.
fuel injected 120hp SOHC 2 liter out of the box.
