85 crx si vtec swap help
Just bought a 85 crx si 5 speed. The engine is shot. I was wondering what all I would need to swap in a dohc vtec engine. And how much it would cost.

You are going to need a mount kit from a company such as Hasport and either make or buy custom axles. The engine wiring will have to be modified to work with the new ecu and motor.
I am not sure of cost but would suggest you search Hasports site, as well as redpepper racing, and the hybrid/motor swap forum here for details.
This is for a B-series swap. Not sure anyone makes anything for a D-series swap. I have seen an H series in this chassis but I am sure it took a lot of work.
First gen acura Integra DOHC motors are a much easier swap but some things have to be changed, even for that motor.( this swap isn't a vtec motor though )

Ive heard a d16a1 will bolt directly in, can anyone confirm this? and if so can i use the stock 5 speed transmission? And if i can't would a d16a1 transmission bolt directly in to the car? also,
would the d15a3 ecu work with the d16a1?
would the d15a3 ecu work with the d16a1?

The D16a1 does drop right in. I really dont think its worth it though. They are like 113-118hp. Also IMHO they have weak cranks. I am actually just finishing up my 87 type r civic project. 2000 JDM type r engine in the old 87 chassis. Can you tell im excited lol? I say the cranks/bearings are weak because almost every D16a1 I have seen that are shot is because of the bottom half (block) of the engine. Dont get me wrong it is an upgrade over stock but the gain will be minimal. If money is a problem I would go B20z. Cheap and descent torque to pull that light weight chassis.
