Default 85 civic questions

Ok so i can get a 85 civic sedan 5spd for 150 bucks with a title it has a blown timing belt and has 120xxx miles my question it can I find parts for it and what motors could be in it I dont know much about 3rd gen civics . And if the valves hit the pistons how much are new valves I can do the valve job my self. And also what other parts can I swap out on it that will work so I know what to look for when im walking through the junk yard. thanks

3rd gen stuff is pretty easy. D series engine, you can get parts. BKhondaparts.com is a good resource, most of your local parts suppliers can special order what you need also.

You may or may not have bent valves, depending on how it happened.

Lots of parts will interchange, its very easy to put in a newer fuel injected D series also. If you want to stick with carbureted setups, ditch the stock junk and order the Weber conversion kit from Redline.

If the body and interior is ok, you won't be hurt for 150 bucks. It's worth close to that in scrap value if nothing else.
