83 civic 1500 sedan rev problems
I just picked up a 83 civic cvcc 1500 4 door. I have a couple problems. First is a shaky idle and small misfire accelerating through 3rd. Second is it will idle around 8-900 rpms then when I turn either a/c, headlights or defrost on the car will rev up to 4k and stay steady and even while driving with headlights on its like I have cruise control. I'm new to carbs so if someone could point me in the right direction for a good write up on tuning the carb and all adjustments. I think that the Rev could be caused by either the carb or maybe the alternator but not sure. Any help is appreciated

I dont know much about carbs but From what ive heard carbs have settings for low end n high end, so got to check that low end adjustment, might want to do some research on adjusting carbs.
About those electrical issues you have, well id suggest getting a multimeter n do some serious diag on the circuits, it seems like wires have met with one another n powering up more than the specific component you would like. If it were me id just take out the entire body harness n check every single wire one by one, yup its a pain but ive done this myself before on my 89 Crx...very time consuming!!!! Good luck

you need to ditch the problematic stock carburetor to start with. what it sounds like is that you have some sort of issue when the accessories are on and it tries to bump the idle up to keep from dying, but its over compensating for some reason. id just scrap what you've got, de-vac the car and throw on a weber 32/36DGEV and that will easily be the best investment you've ever made

Re: 83 civic 1500 sedan rev problems
Thanks guys. I've been looking into the weber carb. Def wanna get rid of all the vacuum hoses, what a mess. I have ordered a new alternator and voltage regulator to try that and to replace as they look original anyways. I've also noticed that it revs up when the radiator fans would kick on too. And if I'm in the car when it does that I can feel the gas pedal move about a 1/4 inch. It's def trying to compensate for the load.
