77 Civic CVCC
Before I buy one, what common maintenance procedures should I ask or inquire whether it was done or not and any other issues I should be aware of? I am an original owner of a 1991 Tahitian Green Honda Civic DX Hatchback, bought brand new Nov 1991 and the car I traded in? It was a 1977 Honda Accord which I bought for $500 cash from a mechanic. The body was dent free, the paint was an ugly drab-looking grey which I think was sprayed from a can and the interior was as old as the year of the car. However, the engine was perfect, original and maintained by the previous owner, a mechanic. I drove that car everywhere w/o any worries about getting left somewhere. Now, it's time to get another one, not an Accord but a Civic CVCC. Thanks guys.

The 1st question you need to ask yourself is what price-range you are in. That's gonna determine what condition 1st gen you're gonna bring home. Vintage Civics is a test of spine in most cases --- and most every1 from the 1st gen boards towed them home w/ rust falling off the entire way.
Things to watch out for is the wings (fender) rust, dash condition, spare tire well -- doors and door sill (along the bottom of the car. You're gonna have to educate yourself on setting up the carb(s) - or know some1 who still has the smarts for this "lost" art.
Also you are going to have to be PATIENT b/c findsing parts is not as easy for these guys. Sure --- they have parts store parts like alternators - fuel pumps - etc that will always be there. But some of the Honda parts are harder to get and take some time to source.
