1st gen civic swap
alright this is my first thread so bear with me.
i have a 1st gen Honda civic 1500 cvcc hatchback with not engine and a block missing many parts in the passenger seat with unknown condition that i will NOT be rebuilding so don't say just rebuild it. i plan on doing a d-series swap with potentially a turbo on it at some point and wanted some pointers on it and the purity doesn't matter to me, i have a 1979 civic 1500 cvcc wagon that i am restoring so that's going the be my show car. |
Re: 1st gen civic swap
If going to all the trouble to swap, make it a b, h or a k... Although d series are cheap and plentiful, and if you know how to use a turbo right or are willing to learn there are plenty of cheap thrills to be had.
From what I understand of the 1G any modern engine swap requires a fair bit of fab and welding. If you are going to all that effort you might as well maximize the potential. $.02 |

Re: 1st gen civic swap
i found a cheap eg sedan with multiple parts like a running engine (sohc zc) with a turbo kit and some coilovers for about 650$ and have done my research and found out that a d series if the easiest swap as its the smallest physically because of the single cam and it is easier to fit in the car and ive heard that the axles line up on them with the first gen civics, so if i get the funds that would be a possibility for me.
