1986 CRX - Here we go.
 

Not sure what I did here but I bought this heap and I hope I can bring it back to life. It's got issues. I know the aftermarket is not kind to this generation but I think that is what makes it more special. When you see one of these out on the road looking good it really grabs your attention.


Broken fenders on both sides. Used to be red. Front bumper just needs to be put back on.

Plans are right now is to just get it road worthy. I'll worry about the body later. I am on the search for a carburetor rebuild kit for starters. I need to get a battery in it to see if it will even crank. It was one of those "It ran when we parked it." type of deals so we'll see.

Eventually I think I would like to stick a Honda D16Y8 with a super charger if I can get it to fit. I'll get the motor in there 1st. I would really like it to look similar to this:

I had an 87. First manual car, first Honda. Coolest dash ever...That dash pocket up top is so awesome.

Redpepperracing forum might still be around...but back in 03 it was slow even then...

Tein still makes suspension for these cars and the 86-89 Integra. It is available through Heel Toe Auto. IT is by far one of the best mods you can do for these old cars besides a b-series engine swap.

We completely cleaned out the interior and vacuumed it which made a huge improvement. Also went through and tightened up loose interior panels. I even pulled the seats out and vacuumed under those.

I repainted the center console cover a satin black which was a big improvement. We also secured the front bumper and discovered I need a passenger bumper light housing. I'll get more pics of that later.

Next goal is to get a battery and get it started up to see what else we need to get it running solid.

Thanks guys. I scored a few junkyard items I needed. The light housing on the passenger side was missing and I was able to locate on off and 85 car. I will refinish this one and will post pics of my "restoration" of it. That poor junk yard car was used and abused. I originally went in wanting the fenders but they had been busted up after the car was brought to the junk yard. Plus they were full of bondo anyway.

I also got a new battery and tried to get it started. 1st try I flooded the carb, the fuel pump seemed to be pumping like crazy. Once it did start the idle shot up to 4000 rpm I let it run for a little bit then shut it down. I checked for vacuum leaks and it looked like everything is where it should be. After that I could never keep it running and it did not seem like the fuel pump was working anymore. It would start then die a second later un less I sprayed ether in the carb.

My next step is to check to make sure the fuel line didn't get clogged with debris because it was weird that the pump just stopped working. I will get a new one since they're only about $30 and then go from there. I am sure the carb needs rebuilt too. the car has been sitting for about 11 or so years. Thanks for looking guys.

As for the carb the rubber gasket for the intake manifold seal is non obtainum... EDIT, it has been found by this OP

check the fuel level on the driver side of the carb, there is a clear window for the fuel level. Then you have 2 fuel filters, one in front of the driver side rear wheel under a plastic cover, and the one next to the valve cover.

I pulled the solenoid off and checked it and it didn't retract. I turned on the ignition and poked a test light between each wire on the solenoid and no light. I pulled the fuse in the fuse box and checked it with the test light and it worked. So I guess it's either a bad needle or the wiring is screwed up somewhere between there and the fuse box .

I started to clean up some of the existing engine parts. I restore/build old bicycles on the side and have a powdercoat setup at home so I did the valve cover.

I scored a front end that still had the chin spoiler and decent not perfect right fender

I didn't end-up using that fender because two of the mounting areas were broken. I was going to attempt to fix them but ended up running across a Craigslist ad of a car that had a complete front end.

So after getting it running it began to leak oil pretty good. I started d withe the oil pan and gasket.

Brake pads for later. Anyway once I got the pan back on and fired it up it still leaked but not as bad and found out it's leaking out of the seals behind the timing cover. The cam and crank seal. So I am getting a timing belt kit with water pump and seals for that so hopefully that will cure that issue plus I get a new belt and water pump! So that's where I am at right now. I have done a few other small things but those are the major ones. I also have a master cylinder to install but need to get new rotors before I do that so I can do it all at once.

A buddy of mine gave me this cool cover. It barely fits! He ordered it for is 1 gen Dodge Neon and it didn't fit at all.

My local junkyard had a nice, complete (Minus the drive train) 85 Si crx that they would not let go as a complete car. It was crushed a few days later. It was heart breaking. One of my favorite chassis from Honda.
