1985 CRX DX
Recently got a red '85, and a friend said I should come here. Car has a 1.5L EW3(?) with a carb. Clutch slips bad, and I killed the head gasket before I stopped it overheating, so those will be going in Friday / Saturday. Only other real problems with the car is that the fiberglass or plastic (Whichever it is, lol) on the front is cracked, and the passenger-side quarterpanel looks like it was mashed and knocked back out with a hammer. Total parts so far:
Thermostat and O-ring - $12
Plastic clip for inside door handle rod so the door could be opened from the inside - Free
Clutch - $99 w/ shipping
Head Gasket - $25
Not too bad for a $700 car.
EDIT: Pics will be up before too much longer.

You will always have the proble with the fenders and header panel cracking, you learn not to lean on them or tighten the bolts to much. These parts are plastic and get brittle with age. Look forward to seeing pics.

Re: 1985 CRX DX (WOLF)
Checked the plate in the engine bay, and the motor is an EW1. Prolly swap a D-series something in eventually, but not for a bit.
This is the best pic I have of it at the moment, though the lighting is kinda wierd. Will try to get one during the day.
If you look down towards the right of the pic, you can see a bit of the rear quarter. Overall, it's a pretty clean car. Interior is in even better condition than the outside. Well, except for that driver's seat you can see in the top pic. lol
EDIT: Fixed links to pics.

Re: 1985 CRX DX (E-AT_me)
Was thinking that the quarter there was more rust than "good" metal, but iono. Whatever way it goes, I'll end up replacing the whole panel anyhow, or near enough. I need to get a Sawzall.
So, in other news, I'm thinking of pulling a SI head off of one of the CRXes in the local junkyard, 'cause I heard they flow better, or just generally produce more power. Anyone know anything about this?
New pics:
The paint is a little faded on the hood and fenders, so I'll get some rubbing compound and try to get that back looking right. Hopefully it will work. I still have the red stripe that goes on the front bumper in the slot there, but it was hanging off when I bought the car so I pulled it off with the intent to glue it back on later.
My custom fender. Because, you know, the crumpled, half-rust look is even better than JDM for cool factor.
The pedal covers are the only aftermarket items on the car. The vinyl on the dash was looking kinda dull when I got it, but Armor-All helped a lot. Working on getting that kinda gray/off-white headliner cleaned now.
Yay, seat! Want to get another CRX seat from the junkyard so both of them will match, but if all else fails I might get a couple of '85 seats from something else.
EDIT: Fixed tags.

Re: 1985 CRX DX (Romulan_7)
look for parts and info over on redpepperracing. I gotta think you'll find guys close enough to you who have parts cars with better quarters who will give them to you for free or cheap. Think about maybe a D16a1 (1st gen integra) swap. Cheap to do and been done a lot.

D16A1 is what I'm thinking now for motor. And, yeah, I'm gonna be in Northern California (Sacramento) for school in less than a month, so I'm sure I'll be able to find *someone* near enough. Cheap is always good, but never better than free.
