1984 CRX 1300 5 speed - Need some help
Hello,
I recently got this CRX
It is driving kind of rough so I took out the carb in order to mail it in to get it rebuilt .
That throttle position sensor looking thing with a wire.. Do I leave this on the carb? Because I don't see a way to get it off the carb.
My next question is that I also need a replacement cat or a cat delete or a header that does not use a cat.
Are there any companies that make these anymore for the the 1G CRX?
I took my time and looked around the internet and redpepperracing forum etc but I simply do not think there are any companies making headers for this car anymore?
Car is overall in great shape and I am hoping to be able to get close to 50 MPG. I am not interested in replacing the OEM carb with a weber or devac since I want to get as much MPG as possible.
Thank you in advance for any help

found this pic online to compare , not too bad for an almost 30 year old car.
rust is minimal, I hope I get it running right soon

You should get some trick Rocket modified spark plugs.
Why wouldn't Webers get better gas mileage. Better emulsification and you can play with the jets a bit.

About the weber, I already got a new oem style carb to see if the hesitation issues will go away. Once the car is running decently, I will consider the weber but I need to establish some short of a MPG timeline..
like drive it for a few days 100% oem and see what it can do..
maybe get a wideband and try to tune it for best MPG
if the results are not close to 40-50 MPG, I will consider saying screw it and go with the weber and try to get a custom header.
For now, my plans is to make it my daily for the summer. Once the carb goes on the car next week, I will know if this is going to work out or not. I don't have much time, I need to get it running well by first of June

It might be hesitating because the idle or progression ports may be slightly clogged. This is common because the orifices are very small and easily clogged by very small particles such as debris coming off of a fuel hose.

Hesitation, can be clogged fuel filters, don't forget the one by the driver's side rear wheel well, cooked spark plug wires, and of course the wrong spark plugs, ONLY use the one recommended by Honda, either the NGK or ND.
With the various vacuum hoses, some harden and lead to vacuum leaks like the big one behind the intake manifold near the firewall, with the car on blocks, or sturdy jack stands, not the car jack, lift the front and check for wet deposit around the 1/2 hose next to the thermal vacuum switches.

thank you, so far i have put 1500 miles on this car, all of it highway driving.
Everyday I pass a prius, I smile and talk to myself because I still cannot believe this is a 1984 Honda getting close to 60 MPG!!!
30 year old car, just unreal

Your crx is greener than a prius... it is recycled while the prius has it zinc mined in Canada, shipped to the UK to make the plates.... then to japan for the final process...
