Well, hopefully that can be machined to true flat again. Post up pics once it's fully machined down.

Just the type of feedback I wanted to hear.. ~s
Since I’m a rookie I listened to everybody and took it to a machinist. I even picked a machinist the specializes in engines. Stuff like this is the reason I never take on big projects that I don’t have intimate knowledge of. It doesn’t help that I don’t know anybody locally. Fingers crossed I guess

yea man those water jackets before would have been fine with a fresh gasket tbh they only see 16ish psi for the cooling system he was just trying to sell some work now you have to have the head decked , but it will probably still be fine just took a extra step backward to go forward

I hope its decked when I get it back. Thats the same as resurfacing? I guess on the plus side, I was already gonna commit to the $250 rebuild for pom. It was only $71 more. I hope its flat tho..

Do I need that little heat shield between the intake and exhaust manifold?

I always ran them, keeps some heat off intake mani.
The EK1 from 82 and 3 actually had some potential, ports and valves were much bigger despite supposed hp ratings and C/R is low on all the old iron block engunes. If you could source some City turbo parts...

Should handle mild boost just fine, those bottom ends were nice. Heads were limited, 110ish hp for fully built, maybe a bit more with the non-stratified canadian heads. The aluminum 1200s actually had more na potential with those hemi heads, they were basically oversized motorcycle engines. Whatever, 1800lb car.

Rebuild and adjusted. After seeing the ports I might buy a feeler set to double check

Shave it's nuts off.
I forgot how tiny those exhaust valves are. My 1st car was a 76 CVCC and it was oddly quick though, ate Celicas and topped out around 102 mph.
Haha, ream those main jets with a guitar string and cram a cherry bomb on the exhaust.
