1980 Accord Engine damage
 

I cant find where to post about an antique Accord, so ill post here. I changed my timing belt and was a couple teeth off. Car ran but started to overheat.

compression had been from #1 to #4 105 120 120 120

Redid belt to what looked correct now that i know to check TDC on flywheel many times and line up with cam many times and now i find compression is 60 90 90 90...did i bend valves? Blow gasket when it heated up? What would cause such an even drop in compression? Car does not run now

If your timing belt was off enough you may have caused the pistons and valves to make contact.

Wow, that's the last of the CVCC type engines, and still carbs too. But no CAT .

I agree, I believe that is an interference engine. Family had a 1979 Civic, I think similar engine.

It does sound like you bent all the valves.

When i turn the engine by hand with spark plugs out, oil is squirting out of the number 2 cylinder. Is that a hole in the piston?

I second 99stockcivic's analysis, sound like bent valves to me as well... Getting the timing perfectly is crucial after changing the belt. I wish Honda would mark the timing on the teeth like Mercedes does (or used to do) however.
