1967 S800 Coupe. Head Skimming.
 

HI All,
Currently have my cylinder head at the machine shop getting two new valve seats fitted and two new valve guides, on No1 cylinder.
The engineer informed me that the head is out of flatness by approx 0.004" (0.1mm).
The question is, how much 'meat' is there on the head before valve interference becomes a problem?
Can't find any tolerances/dimensions in the workshop manual.

Personally I think you will be fine with that minimal machining, but give Brian Baker a call at his business. He works on and restores S600-S800's.

Just to close off the thread; I've collected my head from the machine shop, who managed to get an acceptable level of flatness with a skim of 0.005". I don't think this will be a problem in the grand scheme of things. Heard that Yoshimura used to take 2mm off the head to increase compression, but don't quote me it was only someone's comment.
