89 honda accord lxi oil light acting up
I own a 89 honda accord lxi and my engine oil light is being weird.
The dash board light will be solid when at an idle but will blink when actually driving. Some times when idling at red light the solid light will flicker like a strobe light. But all this only seems to happen when the engine gets really hot, when i say this I mean I live in south florida and commute 20miles to work, in the morning, before daylight, the oil light usually does not come on, but in the afternoon on the trip home(on a sunny day, not usually on rainy days), the oil light will come on like said. On the weekends just driving around town the light does not tend to come on, but recently seems to have been. In addition, one oil change cycle the light never came on, Then 3,00miles later and another oil change the light just about always comes on in the above described story.
Any idea how to diagnose this issue?
Thank you

#1 low on oil. Check oil
#2 bad or weak oil pump.
#3 bad sending unit or better known as a oil light pressure switch.

Thank you,
Its not the oil.
I just had the oil pressure switch replaced because the housing was bad and leaking oil everywhere, the oil light only started coming on after they put new switch in.
Is there a way I can test the pump or switch? and if so I assume I will have to do it when the light is acting up?

probably a bad switch, just because it's new doesnt mean it's necessarily good, try this, look under the radio in the center of the dash, you'll see a black box which is the mutifunction box, it also will flash the oil light with a brief drop in oil pressure. unplug it temporarily and see if it stops acting up
