So..New Ontario Drive Clean....
So as most of you probably know already,
Starting January 1, 2013, the new test will scan your car’s computer to see if your vehicle meets emissions standards. So here is the scoop at my place of work we hooked up the new machine it comes equiped with camera that feed live to the ministry of the environment along with the vehicle scan that reads vin off the ecu, dtc's, and emission component readiness. So we tested the new machine out with several vehicles that are modified and results are most failed!!! Vehicle's which failed & Reason 2011 GTI with APR stg2 chip - secondary O2 bypass - no MIL light but readiness not there. 2010 GTI same issue as above 2002 Civic Ex (mine) - Evap system - failure 2003 Rsx - Kpro - Ecu Readiness failure 2004 SRT4 (mine) - AEM EMS - No communication with ECU basically any vehicle with mods that are actually worth doing will fail and I believe swapped cars 99 and up once regesitered as hotrod must meet emissions standards of the newer engine. |
Re: So..New Ontario Drive Clean....
What model year do they start with the ecu tests ? I heard 2000 and newer ?
IS this correct ? Thanks, |
Re: So..New Ontario Drive Clean....
got answer from the mto website
On-board diagnostic computers became standard in Canadian light-duty vehicles in 1998. Drive Clean will continue to use a tailpipe test for light-duty vehicles from 1988 to 1997 model years to ensure that grossly polluting older vehicles are identified and repaired. Heavier light-duty SUVs or pickup trucks (3,856 – 4,500 kg) of model years 1988 to 2006 will also receive a tailpipe test as they are not equipped with OBD technology. so seems cars 1997 and older is still tail pipe. source http://www.ene.gov.on.ca/environment...OD_102286.html |
Re: So..New Ontario Drive Clean....
Will this affect my 94 gsr ? Fully straight piped and evap system removed ? or will i be able to weld a cat in and call it a day ?

Re: So..New Ontario Drive Clean....
weld a cat and call it a day . ( as long as its a good cat ).
They might do the visual, if its missing any "emissions" item can fail. |
