Viper R350 with DEI 308D (2K Civic DX)
Q: I've been running this setup for ~4 mos. without issue (despite the reputation of the 308D - it's been absolutely flawless). I had to check the install manual for the alarm today for reasons unrelated to this setup and noticed the manual stated the current draw for the 308D is greater than the R350 brain can safely provide. I find this odd as they both use the same 4-pin sensor port and are both made by the same manufacturer.
Any real-world experience with this?
I'm already running the 308D ground off GWA and I can easily tap 12V from an adjacent wire, but I'd like to know if this is really necessary. The 308D is the only peripheral on the 4-pin sensor port (rest are tied to instant trigger).
EDIT: What is the *actual* current draw of this sensor? If this came with instructions I can't find them anymore. This has been described as a "high draw" sensor but without numbers this is meaningless, IMHO.

Viper R350????
There is a Viper 350 plus and a Viper 350HV but I can find no Viper R350 at the DEI support site, are you looking at the remote model number.
There is also no 308D that I can find, there is a 508D "field disturbance sensor" if it is a 508D then there is no problem wiring it to the sensor port. 94

You are correct, the sensor is the 508D.
The alarm is "Responder 350". There is another model with "350", but this unit is 2-way.
Just to be sure, this is the text right from the manual (p. 18):
"Important: The power and ground outputs of this plug cannot support high current sensors such as a 508D. Power and ground for the sensor should be connected to the red H1/11 and black H1/8 on the H1 harness connection."

OK, I found it, the "revamped" Viper 350HV, on the 350HV it is not a problem, but they have changed the max load capability of the extra sensor port on the Responder 350, I can not find any info on current draw of the 508D, but if the manual says do not connect a 508D to the power and ground of that port then I would not do it, just move the power and ground, just to be safe. 94
