Subwoofers snap, crackle, and pop! HELP!
I did some research, but can't find a conclusive answer. Idk what you guys wanna know about my setup so here's some basic info on it, 2 12" Memphis SR subs connected to a Memphis SR mono amp using a 8-gauge wire kit and my subs are facing towards the back of my car. I also have the "Big 3" upgrade. Gain, LPF, and subsonic are all set in the middle.
Installed 3 months ago, work amazingly. Monday morning, get in my car and turn it on and there's some crackling before the music even plays but then stops as soon as the music starts. I drive for a few minutes to work with my normal music volume and turn my car off and my subs made a loud pop sound. Yesterday it did the same thing and same with today.
Any ideas why this is happening or how I can fix it? I'm afraid my subs are gonna blow. I was gonna take her into an audio garage tomorrow but I was hoping you guys could help me out. Thanks!!

Factory radio or aftermarket? Are you using a true remote turn on wire source or just the ignition or accessory wire?
In my experience, pops like this are from a bad/loose ground somewhere.

I'll look at the ground morning. Too dark tonight! I'll update tomorrow.

Re: Subwoofers snap, crackle, and pop! HELP!
I had a similar issue a few weeks ago. I checked the power cable attached to my battery to where my fuse block was and found the cable was detached. So when I would drive the positive cable would touch the fuse block causing a popping sound and my woofers would go on and off. I reconnected the cable and it stopped. I had my car worked on the week prior so I believe when it was getting repaired the cable probably because loose. Hope you get it sorted out.

Sorry for the lateness, town got hit with a bad storm and have been stuck inside! I got out today and checked some stuff.
Checked the ground, looked fine but i re-sanded it anyways. Still cracks when turned on and pops when turned off...
i know i need to set them better, just haven't done enough research yet. I haven't touched them since I installed them so I'm assuming its not those causing the crackle and pop, what about the sub settings on my head unit, would those cause or fix the crackle and pop?
Checked my power wire from amp to fuse and fuse to battery, they are nice and tight.. Thank you for the info!
Any other ideas? I don't want to give in and take her into a garage. My man points will go down haha.

Sorry.. Been busy moving. Still having the same issue. Could moisture be causing this issue? I found white mold on my subwoofer box port.. Then found a leak in my trunk so moisture has beeen getting in the sub box.. This issue did start when the rainy weather started..
I can post a pic tomorrow but its grounded underneath my trunk to the metal bracket where the jack goes.
