Questions on the big 3, 1996 Crown Victoria.
Like the title says, I thinking about doing the big 3 on my brothers vic.
Info on car:
96 vic, ex stater.
Factory higher amp alternator.
Alpine MRV 1200 (JL 4AWG all the way back)
Alpine HU, with Alpines "plug and play" 4 channel amp.
Lights dim, and the volt gauge is all over the damn place when the bass hits. My brother is hard on the system, and constantly has the volume up.
I will be putting a optima red-top in it.
My question, In your opinion is it worth doing it? Have you personally seen improvements after it?

i don't like capacitors. Just a band aid, IMO... If I need to put the money into a higher amp alt than I'll do that.

You have an alternator that puts out ~130 amps I believe, and that amp can pull 100 amps alone. I would definitely do the big 3 to make the most of what you have, but chances are you are still going to have some dimming. Sure adding a capacitor in addition to doing the big 3 will help even more, but in my opinion I'd just add a second battery. That way if your bro is jammin with the car off, you guys aren't left looking around for a jump.
