Is it a new rule that we must get this question once a week around here?

It's been covered.

Not worth it.

I'm sure you searched.

It's not worth it because you will acheive any better sound with a 6x9 than with a properly installed 6.5" driver.

The labor necessary to achieve proper separation of the airspaces on the front & rear of the speaker far outweigh the negligible change in sound quality.

In short, it's not worth the time, especially when rear speakers aren't necessary. Put the time & money you'd spend on this "project" into a good set of speakers up front, or better yet, components and proper amplification.

Yeah, round speakers will always be better performers IMHO.

lol! I thought this was the same thread from two weeks ago that we answered, even the thread title is the same.

6x9s sound worse than a round speaker because the outer part of the cone travels slower than the (what would be) circular perameter of the cone which causes flexing in the cone leading to distortion.
The one benefit to a 6x9 is they are crazy efficient, but at a detriment to your SQ.
I seem to have to type 6x9s suck in 5 different ways everytime I log into this forum.
Not to mention your focus should be on your front speakers, a great stereo system sounds like a live concert. When you are at a concert the sound is coming from in front of you, not all around you or behind u, so leave your rear speakers alone, unless they are blown, and put your hard earned dough into your fronts.
