noise from deck
 

just recently, i notice that my deck makes a noise according to how my engine is running..........like if i'm accelerating the noise is goin higher

if i decelerate then the noise goes lower
its kinda like a buzzing noise, dunno how it got there, but its so damn annoying

If the the noise is more like a siren,wineing kind of sound that increases in pitch as you rev the engine, that is altanater noise.

If its ign. its probably getting in the antenna, to test unplug the ant.

If its alt. its probably a poor ground pull HU and check wireing.

It may be the HU itself , with car running pull HU out of dash, still have noise? no, its the HU, yes, it can still be the HU but not likely.

ummm.....not the spoke thingy

its like a sound of a z.....if i turn my deck off, the noise dont come....i've pulled my deck in and out recently a few times...but never unplugged nehitng.....and teh noise never used to come b4

It sounds like it is ign.noise, check the ant., also see if the noise is there with HU out of dash. 94

HOLY!! i cna't figure out where this stupid buzzing noise is coming from.....my deck has some wire connected to it with a little box on the end of it that says invertor on it .........it just hangs...dunno if that has nethign to do wit nethign

I think the the little box is the DC to DC convrter, and yes it does something.

That is one of Sonys higher end HU, I would recheck all the wireing, if fact I would disconnect the HU and test all the wires that it is connected to, and as the HU has no amp in it, the problem is probably not in the HU.

How are the amps wired? what kind of power? and how was it run? what kind of RCAs and how are they run in the car, and most important, the amp/amps ground where is the ground for the amp/amps, also have you beefed up the grounds at the batt., and alt., how about the charge wire from alt to the batt.

One last thing, has your car got upgraded ign. system,MSD ,HOLLY , even just spark plug leads? 94

okay
when i got the car it was running fine, but then i pulled out the HU but i didn't disconnect any wires, then when i put it back in, the buzzing noise started to come

also my speakers were giving me no bass, so i started playin wit the amp, now i got a bit of bass coming out

the ground for the amp is done where the spare tire is

the power cable runs along the driver side.........ALL other cables run along passenger side

just one amp...the sony xm7557, and about the ign...i dont think nethign is upgraded

So you had no problem, untill you pulled the HU out ? and you pulled it out but you didn't disconnect anything? then you put the HU back in, and then you got the noise.

Why did you pull the HU?

Could something have come unhooked?

Did you hear the noise right away after you reinstalled the HU?

Have you pulled the HU out again and checked the wireing connections?

1- pull HU and check the connections.
2- when HU out inspect all the wires,cables,RCAs for damage.
3- when HU out , other than power plug, unplug anything that can be, 1 at a time, and listen to see if noise is still there.
4- and as I asked before, is there any differance in the noise when the HU is outside the dash,as when it's in the dash?

Definately altenator feedback. Its due to a grounding problem... I had this happen to me after replacing my stolen $$$ head unit and system with sub par stuff to just get by. I would move the ground under the backseat and sand the spot to get a clean connection, check the ground (and also the wire not just where you're connecting it..if the wire has a split in it or was cut a lil , it could be grounding)

Yeah what its doing is picking up feedback from the altenator... where are you hearing it from your HU or speakers.. I doubt its the HU though (as in faulty stuff). Heres what you can do to fix the prob pretty easy.

Go to a stereo shop and pick up like a I think its called a "capacitor" I totally forgot... but what you do is plug in from your RCAs to either your head unit or from RCAs to amp. Wherever the noise is coming from.. it kills HIGH frequency and ends your problem. Any stereo intall place will know what your talking bout if you go in tell em your getting high freq. feedback. It looks like a cyclinder , small and has RCA plugs. Bout 10 bucks....

you don't want to go putting a cheap filter on the rca - it's a bandaid to a problem that is easy to fix.

becuase it's a C90, it has no built in amp, which means that it's a ground problem (90% of the time).

I would inspect both the ground for the headunit and the ground for the amp and insure that both are connected to the chassis, are tight, are the proper gauge wire, and are connected to bare metal.

Once that you have verified all of these things, you should be fine.

I'm on the same thought process as fcm (go figure https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif). If it starts whining now that you pulled the deck - it's a most likely a ground problem from the deck...don't use the ground from the factory harness either....

Also check to see what speakers it comes out of - this will help you narrow it down to what amp it could be etc - depending on the system of course.

just noticed it was one amp - if it's all the speakers doing this, then it's a ground issue, if it's just one of the sets of speakers - probably an RCA issue, swap RCA's and see if the problem moves to another set of speakers

okay, here's the deal, i just pulled out the HU and tried everything....no luck!

first i took out the HU and just put it on the seat, same thing......then i disconnected the RCA"s from teh amp and plugged them in one at a time

and i noticed when i connected the front passenger door speaker...it was making the noise, so maybe the speaker is gone bad or seomthign? http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

sounds to me as if one side of your rca has gone bad to that amp, or that channel is frigged

try using the other rca and see if the speaker makes the noise

then try to play that speaker on another channel of the amp

and another speaker on the same channel the bad sounding one was on

Was it the RCA for the Ch of the amp that powers the front passenger speaker

It may be the RCA, the amp, the speaker wire ,or the speaker.

disconnect the speaker at the amp [take the speaker wire off the amp.] if noise is gone,the problem may be the speaker or the speaker wire, unhook the left front speaker wire from the amp and hook it up to the right side,[the one with the noise] if there is no noise ,then it is the wire or the speaker for the right side, put the left speaker wire back to the left CH of the amp, if you have, or can borrow a multimeter you can check the speaker and wire right at the amp, set meter to imp/ohms, one meter probe to each wire [ the speaker wire can't be hooked up to amp.] the meter should read 3.7 to 4.0 OEMs, now switch meter to continuity, one probe to car ground, [amp ground] other probe to each wire, [one at a time] ther should be no continuity [short] . https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif we are getting closer https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif 94

hahha....i think i solved the problem..........what i did was,

on my amp i turned all the gains to the lowest level and put my HU volume about half way up, then i reset teh gains........and now i dont hear that buzzing thingy

so i dunno if that was my actual problem to begin with, cuz i did fiddle around with the gains before to get more bass OR maybe its not the asnwer to the problem, but it works https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

So, if the gains aren't set properly, can the speakers start to let out that buzzing noise that i was experiencing?

If gains are turned up all the way it will make it easier to hear the noise, but unless there is something wrong with the gain control itself it can't make the noise.
