that tach wire is needed for the remote start to work properly.. you are also going to need to ground out the clutch switch when remote starting..

i got the input - hooked up to the lt green/red near the cruise contorl box and
dont really work when you open the door
plus when when you press arm button it beeps once and then couple senconds go by and the lights flash on the car 4 times
which mean door is open
also when i arm it the lights flash one and they go out
when disarm it it flashes twice and then stays on the whole time

i just want to learn to install it myself

Hondas use a negative trigger input...just grab it from the a-pillar or passenger side door pin (its a light green wire w/ red stripe usually, and i say passenger door pin because i have come across some Civics that have isolated pins, i.e. the driver pin will only get the driver door).

Do yourself a favor and get a MULTIMETER. Test EVERY wire BEFORE you make connections.

You can also find the tach wire usually at the top of the driver's side firewall next to the clutch master cylinder in a capped off lead(near the yellow/black engine harness leads).

Red/black parking lights - if you haven't found it yet, just find the plug on your dimmer switch and tap it there.

I don't mean take the car to a shop, I mean go to a shop and get a tag in sheet, it will make it a lot easier for you to do it yourself, and as Coyote1800cc said, get a multimeter, if you are going to work on your car yourself it will have 1001 uses.

It sounds like you have wired the pos.(+) door trigger insted of the neg.(-) door trigger, that is why, when you arm the alarm, it says the door is open, the alarm is seeing 12v+ when the door is closed.

As for the light flashes, most alarms will flash the lights once when you arm it and twice when you disarm and 3 or more when disarmed after the alarm has tripped and rearmed, some alarms will also hold the lights on for 30 sec. or so after disarming, have you checked how long they stay on after you disarm?

I will get a tag in sheet for your car at work today, you can IM me if you need more help.

PS one thing I do when I install alarms and remote starts in cars is I remove all the wires from the alarm I am not going to use, like in Honda/Acuras you don't need pos.(+) door trigger so it is only going to be in the way if left in the alarm harness, and depending on alarm/remotestart, and what you want to wire up, can be 10 or more wires 94

Maybe the alarm harness is miswired 94
