Default Need help hooking up iPod to new head unit.

Ok so I got a new Sony CDX-GT310 all installed.

I'm buying a new iPod and it has the built in iPod controls so I can wire it to the back of the head unit and leave the iPod in the glove box.

Crutchfield is saying I need these two things...

and

Now the thing is where does that white clip plug into, this is what the back of my head unit looks like...

The square port is for the regular wiring harness for speakers/power and that good stuff that round whole next to it is for what I thought was the iPod connecter.

What am I missing here?

i know some aftermarket cd players are easier than others to hook up, my old alpine for example... one single cord that came out of the rear of the deck... good luck, and i know some kenwoods are like that also.

Yea it says it has iPod controlls built in just need the adapter. I think I just need that first one the box but idk why crutchfield is listing that second piece, there's not where for it to plug in.

I figured it out. I just need the one in the first pic.

It comes with the other wires hat connect to the back of the head unit and the ipod connects to that box.

The second one is for another kind of head unit, just a mistake by crutchfield's site.

Why? It makes more sense to have it separate: those people that don't have/don't want an ipod won't want to pay for something they're not going to use.

LMAO, you dont think a CD player with "ipod controls" that needs an adapter for it to work is any cheaper than one that just needs a usb cable (which was supplied).

better yet, do you think they dont factor this "feature" into the price of the head unit, regardless of if it needs an adapter or not?
